  1. Unleashed Tune blew my ecoboost mustang up

The people with very fast EB's say that these engines are all about octane. Trying to go fast(er) on 91/93 octane just leads to blown engines. Feed it right with E85 and/or WMI and it'll run forever. At least that's how I understand what they say.
  2. Unleashed Tune blew my ecoboost mustang up

I'd love to see the failure rates on tuned EB's within the first 60k miles. I'm going to guess it's probably pretty low. On this forum we've had 15-20 (I think) who have reported blown engines. Compared to how many of us - just on this forum - with tuned EB's? Of course, pop over the 5.0 or 3.7...
  3. Oil FYI: ASMOIL to release Anti-LSPI Signature Series in Sept.

Oh sweet, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is dexos 1 compliant. It wasn't listed on http://www.centerforqa.com/dexos-brand2015/, only Platinum is. http://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/products/full-synthetic-motor-oils/pennzoil-ultra-platinum.html
  4. Unleashed Tune blew my ecoboost mustang up

What is it about the V8's that makes them resist LSPI so well? You don't hear about the Coyote blowing up, but Ecoboom is startlingly common. Is it just the forged internals or is LSPI just something that small displacement, high boost engines struggle with?
  5. Oil FYI: ASMOIL to release Anti-LSPI Signature Series in Sept.

If I can get my hands on this oil, I'll start using it instead of the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum I use now.
  6. Unleashed Tuning

On my tune, boost wasn't increased. It's still sitting at 20psi. I asked for mild tune that I could use year round. I'm at 6000ft and on 91 octane - there just isn't much that can be done without aux fuel or a bigger turbo.
  7. Unleashed Tune blew my ecoboost mustang up

It's bad form to come on this forum and accuse a tuner, especially a reputable one, without proof. Hell, it's bad form to accuse without proof to begin with. On top of which, with all the ecoboom stuff, you knew the risk when you tuned. I just tuned with Unleashed and if my engine blows...
  8. Unleashed Tuning

A blown engine is just an excuse to go built block and big turbo.
  9. Ford Racing ProCal Tune

On a manual, at least, the driver can take steps to avoid LSPI by driving in the right gear, downshifting to a lower gear for heavy acceleration, not flooring the gas pedal in 6th (and maybe 5th?) gear, and avoiding full throttle under 3k RPM. If one is not doing this, and has a tuned engine...
  10. Unleashed Tuning

After a lot of thought and a lot of reading - browsing Focus ST and F150 forums - and also talking to Torrie via email, I decided to go Unleashed. I had some specific requirements and I was pleased that he was more than happy to provide a tune that would meet them. His response times should be a...
  11. Tune, but only really love it in SPORT modes?

Have you contacted Steeda about having the shifting tweaked in normal mode or is the Steeda tune a canned tune?
  12. Turbonetics twinscroll DBB direct swap turbo

Yeah.... turbo engines are pretty sensitive to fuel from what I have read over the time I've been on this forum. I plan to add WMI before going with a bigger turbo.
  13. Turbonetics twinscroll DBB direct swap turbo

About 400whp with auxillary fueling is the max for the stock block. Pretty competitive price with the Vargas S2. I wonder how they stack up against each other?
  14. Ecoboost Turbo Blew Up

Well, you won't be winning any half throttle races now. Maybe the 5.0s will finally stand a chance. :D
  15. ebay intercooler

If a $350 intercooler from Rev9 will meet my needs just as well as a $500 one from a 'name brand', I'll get the $350 one. It has nothing to do with disposable income. In my case, the Rev9 intercooler fit perfectly and has more than met my needs for daily driving.
  16. Rev9Power FMIC?

I have it, as well. It works fine for my daily driving needs. I'm not sure how it would hold up at the drag strip or track, however.
  17. How about an Ecoboost Stroker Kit!

I'm a good 1 1/2 -2 years out from a built motor, but this might be something I keep in mind when I build my engine. 2.6L stroker with some nice aggressive cams and a bigger turbo...... oh my....
  18. '16 EB MT to the Dyno! (Thanks go to Unleashed!)

Is it just me or is the torque curve weird? Starts starts dropping like a rock after 3500rpm.
  19. Built Blocks -

Thoughts on Esslingers 2.6L stroker kit?
