Its a crapshoot, I don't think anyone has documented proof of where these things fail under boost from what I have seen. FatFab has pushed them up to and over 1000hp with stock internals. Plus there are a handful in the social media dyno wars running the 3.125 and smaller pushing past 920hp on...
I did not know anything about the update, thanks for the info. Ill take Whipple support and reliability any day of the week. In all honesty the car will benefit more from tires and a clutch than any additional power at this point.
I love E85 but I'm on the fence for this car, mainly for...
Currently 3.75, currently Whipple tuned.
Re-read, its says this years mods. I own but have not installed the 3.125 pulley, and plan on having it custom tuned for the extra boost and MS109
Nothing actually; the engine has never been cracked open, internals are factory stock. All it has parts wise is the Whipple kit, kooks LTs, meth injection, and the magnaflow catback. This years mods are the Clutch, Toyo R888R's, Tuning for MS109 and a 3.125 pulley
12,200 miles for me right now, so roughly 10,000 supercharged miles and no mechanical issues whatsoever. I think the only upcoming maintenance worry is the cars clutch. Its feeling like it needs an upgrade before it gets sticky tires.
His lead Ford calibrator is who put together my Whippled GT350. When we were making a plan of attack for the build his response to all my questions about supporting mods (Built motor, Clutch, Billet OPGs, Fuel Hat, bigger badder driveline, take my money for something shiny please.) was "Nope...
Super impressive work guys, do you have anybody daily driving these setups and at what power levels? Slight subject change, maybe this question deserves its own thread. What do we think the boosted limit is on the voodoo? Im not hearing of any issues from the forced induction crowd whatsoever.
1. How many miles on your current engine? 7800
2. Have you ever had your engine replaced, and if so why? No
3. Do you frequently track your car? No
4. What is the date of manufacture of your car? 8/2017
5. Have you had any engine mods/upgrades done, OPG's, valves, cams etc? Gen3 Whipple...
I love the z06, it was my first choice until I test drove it and discovered my 6’6” frame would probably require neck surgery after 2-3 speed bumps. It was doable, but not comfortable.
1969, the car itself was a pretty big deal in the Midwest through the 80s and 90s, it had features in Hotrod, Carcraft and many Mopar coffee table books. Her father bought it in 76, and he gave it to her sometime in the 90s. It’s been a bracket racer for the last 15 years but it is returning to...
Oh it’s terrifying, I refuse to drive it anywhere but out of the garage. It’s a 440 6pack car with a cam and 4.56 gears so it runs ok if you just point it straight. The 4 wheel drums and 50 year old torsion bar suspension make it real interesting to slow back down lol.
Agreed, I should of used the term “controlled environment without risk of merging vehicles or oncoming traffic”
The hood wobble was an interesting experience at 140-150, nothing crazy but you notice it fast. I actually have that captured on video from my TX2K18 runs
Well then I guess whipple needs to keep an eye on the employee assembling the owners packets. Good thing my buying decisions was not hinged on carb compliance
Ive maintained 160ish comfortably, the car felt really good so I wouldn't be opposed to faster speeds if a safe opportunity presented itself. I should have it at the Fall Texas Mile event, so we will see what 165 plus feels like
Crazy, I see why all my new neighbors in TX left CA... The kit...
On public roads and casual romps they still spin but its heavily dependent on road surface, temps, and of course tire temps. For all around CASUAL use they didn't solve any problems vs the Michelins.
