A standard 5.0 with a Whipple handles 800hp easily, so I'm not sure why anyone would think that an engine that's actually built for boost, couldn't handle 1,000hp? Hell, even the old GT500's handled that much.

That's fine and all. I'm just saying a GT with the auto is still faster in a straight line, than a GT350. Regardless, even the manuals between the 2 are still quite different: MT82-D4 = 3.24, 2.10, 1.42, 1, .81, and .62 for the GT TR-3160 = 3.25, 2.23, 1.61, 1.24, 1.00, and .63 for the GT350

I'm not sure that's accurate, unless you're only talking about the '18+ Mustang GT with the 6MT. Stock GT's with the 10R80 are running high 11's @ ~120mph.

That's probably fair, but I'm looking for a brand new one with very specific options. Sure you don't get the badge glory or resale value like you do with a Shelby, but It's really hard to beat the price : performance. Plus, I've already owned a GT500, so that's already crossed off of my bucket...

I was expecting this price range, but secretly hoping for the performance bargain of the century. Now I think I'll just go back to my original plan of buying an 800hp LFP GT for about $20k less.

To each their own. I had a GT500 as my daily and I love driving stick, but So Cal stop and go traffic ate up 2 very expensive clutches in just over 3 years. The reason I'm buying the new one is because it has an auto.

A stock 2018 GT can trap @ 120mph, so 15mph faster with an additional 300hp might be within the realm of feasibility, assuming it can put the power down.

I never needed any warranty work done on the engine. But if you absolutely had to, just take 30 minutes to replace the stock parts before bringing it to the shop. Problem solved.
