i wonder if you just swapped out one of the trunk struts if it would still open by itself AND be easier to close? as is my stock trunk struts will allow the trunk to pop open but it basically just unlatches the trunk and doesnt fully open it.
great idea. might be best of both worlds. if anyone does this, please post pic / video

Imo. I think by only doing one, that would put strain on one side and not other?

because when you push down, if one strut is weaker than other, I can’t see them coming down evenly, one side will be pushing harder idk. Just thinking

Let me tell you, if you are leaning over the trunk Itl give you a punch to the jaw. Almost got hit myself.
it takes some muscle to push down. I like it, just hope long term doesn’t hurt my black deck lid piece as I close it using that lip.

how do you guys close trunk?
I close mine by putting my fingers on the pony badge and/or the spoiler blade.

I have always just used my 3 fingers and pulled down on the bottom of the black deck lid lip. It still works just fine.

You will become quicker at closing it, a very fast thrust makes it easier and doesn’t seem to strain anything

lol. I was doing it for several minutes. You follow through as well.

I like this, bc my gf tends to slam my trunk, now it won’t be a hard hit when it’s being closed. Atleast I don’t think. It seems soft when it reaches bottom with quite a push of force, and follow through p

I tried that mid-install. It did push up a little higher on unlock, but I felt like the trunk was torqing when closing. I went ahead and installed both sides. Lots more downforce is definitely required to close now, but I prefer just having to manually close vs. having to both manually open and close. Love my new catapult!

Next to the sunglasses drawer, under and to the left of the steering column.

My catapult conversion kit should land tomorrow (as well as the shifter bushing). It'll give me something to play with until spring, LOL.

Reminds me of a thread a few months ago where the OP couldn't keep cats off of his car. Hmmmmm, a catapult!
