DSG and AWD are a big reason. I've been contemplating a Mustang for quite a while, but I think I've settled on getting a new S3 (basically the Golf R) and picking up a used S550 GT in a year or two. I want both, but practicality is winning over.

APR's stage 1 Mk7 Golf R ran an 11.9 at ~114mph and the GTI ran a 13.1 @ ~110mph. Not bad for $700.

Pretty impressive results from an APR stage 1 Golf R.
