I don't know nothing about no compass GPS signal, as my car is too old. But if he is going to swap APIMs, he'll be doing about 80% of the Sync3 upgrade stuff. Would be good to know if he can skip the antenna, for sure. Heck, the maps may already be on the APIM...

You will need an APIM with nav, and a GPS antenna.
Then you will need the maps. Those can be obtained here, along with any Sync3 updates:

Note for those to use the grommet method: the plastic panel is pretty thick. I had to modify the grommets to fit properly. I just cut off the parts in the red rectangles below.
