A fair question... And tbh I don't have an answer just yet. The main reason being, trying to find an R to drive and assess is rough. They're hard to come by and even harder to get to drive.
The list currently is this...
18+ SS 1LE (w/ 2SS trim, which is only 18+ so 2017s are out)
19+ GT350
16+...
Folks - I appreciate the on-topic responses. Lot's of insight here that I didn't have previously and will weight into my decision.
I don't appreciate dick-measuring about proper terms in relation to aero. Kindly take that crap elsewhere... it's not useful to me (or likely anyone else frankly) -...
I'd argue this a bit - here's why...
(Assuming 2019 350+ vs any year 350R...)
If I buy the R, I'd be replacing the springs for the FP springs (the FP350S springs I believe) either way - So that cost is moot as I'd do it on both cars.
The 19 has likely enough aero if it has the handling pack -...
I think the idea is debris can damage the wheels, repairing CF wheels (if they're even repairable) is expensive, most debris is on public roadways, and you can't push the car to the limit on public roadways (safely anyway) so having a set of "street" wheels/tires will minimize potential damage...
from what I've read so far after some articles were posted and then I searched for additional ones...
It appears the 2019 GT350 is largely similar to the 2016-2019 GT350R, excluding some items that can be bought aftermarket (rear seat delete, aero, CF wheels, different tires)... HOWEVER, the...
All those items can be added from the aftermarket, so I'm specifically wondering what items the 350R has that aren't available in the aftermarket at all, or are potentially available but it's VERY difficult or expensive to change.
Updated that in my original post.
Only have been able to drive...
So I've read the thread with all the GT350 MY 2019 changes...
And it makes me wonder, since a 19 GT350 has a lot of upgrades, what does a 2016+ GT350R have over it (or a 19+ for that matter) that can't simply be added in the aftermarket - specifically the wheels/tires, seat delete, and aero...
I see a lot of over 500whp dynos with LTs/catless-x and intake + tune, but I haven't seen dyno results for people porting the stock intake manifold or tb...
Are they too thin to be ported? Hard to tune?
I assume there's some issues as I highly doubt people would leave power on the table?
So...
I'm coming out of a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE with some work (575whp, ZL1-1LE wheel+tire package, lots of camber, setup for track days). I sold it and planned to get a C8 Z51, however because of a work transfer and because I find myself driving my wife's car with a DSG and finding it boring (even with...
Ok but I just want to know (as I'm considering buying a gt350 shortly) what block is in the 2019 model (gen 2/update/gen 3)a if it's different than the 2020
@HELLION TURBO have any of your customers done lapping/HPDE days with this kit? How did it hold up?
Does the low placement of the turbos help with cooling from air running over the car? Does the heat rise into the engine bay/need evacuation?
I'd love to get this kit and basically run it on...
Curious about how the street sleeper hellion kit manages heat with the turbos low. On one hand as heat rises into the engine bay I'd be concerned, but also they're mounted so low they might get a lot of air-flow to cool them as well.
Also curious about the Edelbrock/TVS 2650 kit as it looks...
Curious how many folks with GT350/GT350Rs are doing track days with superchargers and/or turbo kits
How's the car holding up with the extra heat being generated? Oil temps? Coolant temps?
How's the clutch/trans holding up?
What kit do you have?
Ideally for the car to be as neutral as possible. However if some folks are saying the 19+ understeers more, than maybe I'll drive as-is and see how it goes.
DSC controller and stickier tires would be done for sure, but if there's a better aftermarket setup for springs/shocks/sway bars to be...
GT3RS was a slow driver tbh, there were some better lines he could have been taking...
That said, running up on him that well with PS4s is awesome (considering the GT3RS has cup2s stock)
