ON the note of Midnight - can you give me a ballpark for their trans (I am assuming with core)? I have the 258mm Circle D and Mcleod clutches - but I think if I want longevity - Midnight is the way to go. I am not sure what it does to drivability for the 10R80 but it isn't the most fantastic...
This is why I love the racing community...Someone I don't know personally sent me the video against the mini dragster. I really wasn't trying to cut a light - it was my first pass after arriving - but it made for a cool video...this is the 10.56 at 137.6 MPH pass.
I did log my last run...I will take a look...That said - Ngauge has a "race" and "normal" log - I believe I went with normal...so hopefully the info is still good...
This pass was with a top fuel dragster looking car (long, thin and two tiny tires on the front with two massive tires in the rear fully exposed). Obviously it isn't that quick a car - but the race looked pretty epic. It was my first pass - but I had to restrain myself not to go for a race lol...
Honestly - stunning. I appreciate anyone who will create this level of self build so much - and your welding is such a great skill to have (and at a very high level - is it your trade?). It makes me tired just looking at it though lol. Maybe because I am older now - but wow - this is a ton of...
I was able to get out...similar circumstances - less hot, no prep and a real headwind for an additional kick in keester...that said - the logs from the previous outing were useful and I was able to get another from today (I have the Ngauge primed, and forget everything after my burnout lol). An...
Just to add some assistance - I have found that putting the car into S and into 2nd gear direct - stabbing the throttle to get revs up - seems to be "the way" from my other Mustang bigger build owners. 1st gear is not enough - and shifting 1-2 can be risky (rev limiter or too low). Hoping to get...
I do not treat the tank - but for the super hot day I was told to put a splash (less than a 1/5th of a bottle in my estimation) to prevent ping. So it is - almost - fully pump gas.
Thank-you everyone! I think I will try S in 2nd and go from there. I am already in the practice of putting it back to D after the burnout luckily. My Lund tune shifts at 7400 in D so I do not want to stay in S and shift myself. I have the pump tune which starts in first gear and the E85 tune...
Quick question for the burnout masters using the 10R80 - do you manually (in S) shift to 2nd? Can you leave it in D? I found 1st gears too high revving and not enough speed.
I am lucky everything is good - that said - because the car was in the Shop for 8 months (I bought the car end of November, ordered my parts in December and it sat until I finally got my Whipple in July) - I cannot really blame anyone. They were working on it when the other parts came in and it...
Indeed and I don't know. The car was in the Shop for a very long time waiting for the Whipple. I pulled the liner out from the car and was able to - does that mean the pins were not in? I don't know.
So - I wanted to get out as soon as possible despite this heat - just to get a MPH. Test and tune at my track is literally without prep - so ET wasn't happening. First pass on a test and tune day on pump gas 3.75" pulley. It was hot as soup and a slight headwind to add some additional insult -...
Thanks WD! I am told there may be more on the table as drag radials can reduce dyno results by 20-30 whp. The track is the true test however. No events so prep is not going to be there - but I just want a MPH. That will tell me what the car will run.
Yes - That is the true test. I am interested to see if the drag radials do cause a hit on the dyno. The track will tell me all things. If the weather cooperates I will go this weekend - just to find out a MPH (it is a test and tune day with limited prep).
