They state there is no cutting, but later admitted, based on the setup you want to do (the setup can make 1800 HP) that there is some "minor trimming" needed. That is still a long way from what Turbo packages required. In the end - my point is simply the Whipple setup is easier - to install and...
Lol.. Nothing is rocket science if you know how to do it. My understanding for the sleeper kit - which is a solid kit - is that via Hellion - it takes an experienced Shop 12-16 hours. There is also some minor trimming required and lots of extras if you start building into a more powerful build...
SO - I am at 28 weeks - 7 months plus by the time the Gen V may make it to my car. And I can tell you judging strictly from an end result of a correctly installed, buttoned up and tuned turbo package - there is no comparison. I would do a turbo package 10/10 times - every time. I am actually not...
I got the call that they are packaging up the unit - and should be shipping it this week. Hoping for 1 week delivery time. I am set for them to get it into the car once it arrives.
Fingers crossed!
Edit: December 26th 2020 purchase - 28 weeks if it is delivered as I stated.
I am building what you want - although staying stock engine this season. Gen V 3L build with all supporting mods (and an easy segway into a built motor) will make 700-730 whp depending on the dyno - I am guessing on pump - and 900ish on E85. The idea of the 3.8 as said above will likely destroy...
We don't know each other - but I will go out on a limb and say this isn't your first rodeo? I say that - because in order to really be into modding - you have to take that reasonable attitude. SO good on you...and I hope it all works out. Seems reasonable from my perspective...
That is unfortunately about right - I am at 24 weeks (last week of December). That is if they send it when they said they would (June 25th - June 18th build date).
I see the two of you going back and forth - and as always - the truth is usually somewhere in between.
I agree with you that an owner has the (final) responsibility for their own car, what they decide to do to the car and what Shop/Tuner they use. OP stated that he wanted that 9. I also agree...
I think this is valid - but I don't see the downside to a HX with double the size. Also - with fans - their value is questionable once moving (none). The blocking of air flow is also a big deal to me (by the fans themselves. I have to believe the larger HX must lower IAT's better than the...
This is also my understanding - stop and go traffic and the staging lanes for fan value. Racing - larger intercoolers for better cooling flow all of the time. I also have a cooler. Additionally - my understanding is that when moving the fans actually block air flow. Thus I went larger IC.
I am happy for you both. For some reason despite my Dec 26 order - I am going to be about a full month longer until I get it and its in the car (build date June 18th). So about a 2 week difference if yours was built around June 7th or so - not too bad. There are worse things and nothing I can do...
