I had some hawk money to spend so I am running HPS 5.0 in back and OEM PP pads up front. I think it improved the balance but it is a pretty subtle change. Haven't noticed any I'll effects.

Start with bar on soft. I ran my front konis at 1/2 turn from full stiff in the front and the rears anywhere from full soft to 1/2 turn from soft. I pretty much left the front alone after arriving at this setting and balanced with rear.

Yes. Quite a few of us have run the 285's on the 9inch front wheels. They are pinched a bit but work fine.

I agree that it won't take a lot of bar. I have been running a drilled front bar on my '16 and '18. New hole is 1.5 inches from OEM hole center to center. Just ever so slightly tight but easily fixed with the right pedal as Cris describes. Would not want any more bar than that to be honest...

IIRC, tire rack measured the tread width to be substantially narrower. Almost an inch I think it was.

I just twist the belt a few times before plugging it in.
