Got back from my trip. Finally it all came together. I visited modurstang to her my new discs and pads and the fitted my new wheels whilst I was there.

Came to install an aftermarket steering wheel since the leather was looking rough, they didn’t provide the middle section airbag cover so bought my own and they said they are not insured to fit it. Does anyone know reputable garages that are willing to replace a customer supplied steering wheel airbag cover please?

Probably no help, but some cars the cover just press fits on but removing the old one from the bag is a major PIA. Is it possible that is your situation? Post a pic of the back of the cover you bought.

Looks like it would just press on by hand once the old is off.

Have you searched for a video maybe showing how to remove the old? The problem is sometimes how to simultaneously pry all the tabs on the air bag out of all the slots in the cover at the same time. Those rectangular holes in the walls around the bottom are likely to snap over tabs on the bag. Cover isn't designed to ever be removed but rather trivial to install.

At least one brand of car, a lot of people just cut the old cover off the bag (Video below).

Ford has the holes deeper in the cover plus a separate outside cosmetic layer. So you'd need to remove/cut that off first before cutting the plastic around the holes. OR maybe you can figure out a way to access the holes with a bunch of levers with or without first getting the outer cosmetic layer off. FWIW the levers in that video are called spudger probes.

Yeah apparently swapping the airbag can be a pain but its doable looking online. Managed to find a garage near me that’s done it on most cars before so will see what happens

I like the centre. The rest is a bit too much for my liking but can see the attraction and the effort that has gone in to making it.
I like the flat bottomed look with the gen6 centre. Not a fan of the gen 7 centre at all

Mine was from Diversion Automotive but Ive heard they all get them from different suppliers in east Asia for much cheaper (obviously)

A random one off AliExpress. It was super cheap but I couldn't find anyone who would make me a flat-bottom one while retaining the heating. Royal wouldn't do it.
I've had that wheel on the car for about a year and it's wearing really well.
