What's the reason for buying the sizes you did, 265/35 and 305/30? they are not standard sizes for the GT350. Those sizes may be designated for other cars, hence the difference in rim protectors.
Might be for his recently acquired Boss 302…

They are not for my 350/S550 ;). It's the right/great combo with staggered sizes but matching diameter is desired.

Hey Bob, what would be wrong with the 240 for the 350? They do have 305/325 30's in the new 240; why would that not be great? The overall big difference in this tire is the 240 TW vs 180 on the regular Cup 2. That actually sounds like a good way to go for more street than track. And your link is to the factory installed, non R sizes on later years. That doesn't work for me.

240s fine for street, definite step up in grip over PSS/PS4S while maybe getting 10-12K miles of use. However, at 265/305 stagger are you trying to tune in more understeer for the street? I’m curious as well

I have a local chain tire store. Their price is almost identical to tire rack and includes a road hazard warranty. I have bought tires for all three of my cars including my previous Mustang GT. I have shopped around and found that tire rack is no longer a low cost option. Before buying tires I suggest you shop around locally, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Not trying to tune in anything. I already have staggered wheel sizes, and I really like the looks of a staggered fit anyways. Honestly (being honest with myself more than anything) any handling impacts will not be noticed by me. I don’t have that capability. I’m buying this tire because I like them. This car will see some agressive mountain roads, but I’ll never notice the downsides of stagger say vs a square setup. With the available tire options in this specific tire, 265/35 & 305/30 (my wheels are 10 & 11) it’s the best combo to run staggered and match dia (it’s entertaining to me how many guys pick inappropriate tire sizes and run a taller tire on the front probably without knowing).

I’d probably eyeball a 285/30 for the front, but that would be pushing it on diameter (getting short for the car) but that size just doesn’t exist.

And the other thing Michelin does (which was more of what I was thinking about when I started this thread), even within the entire 4S family, they’ll have their premium touch sidewall design (the really cool checkered flag setup) on some sizes and not others. Soooo annoying! First world problems, LOL. I know that topic has been discussed before.

I think the 265/30 is not good to fit that 10” wheel very good, you might consider a 275 at least. I put 285’s on mine and 305s in back with the same wheels sizes and happy I did. I know the 255/40 on the front was stretched and looked wonky on my car. I didnt stick with the PS4S since they didnt have a 305 in a 35 and the 30 is a much shorter tire than the 275/40’s I had on the rear stock.

It's a 265/35, not 30. And there's plenty of photos of the tire on a 10" wheel. I actually quite like it, and it's still in the manufacturers approved rim width for the tire. As originally stated, the 265/35 is a perfect diameter match for the 305/30 rear. Any wider (275 and up), and the diameter becomes taller than the rear - that is a hard no-go for me.

If these Cup 2's don't work out, I'm gonna look at a 285/30 for the front 10" wheel in the 4S. That's getting dangerously close on diameter being too short for me, so I may still end up with a 265/35 on the front either way. No, I am not departing from the 305/30 on the rear, so these are my options.

Yes, I have this well thought out, LOL! But I do appreciate the extra thoughts and conversation. Thanks guys, seriously.

A Mustang shouldn't have narrower than 275's on 9.5" wheels on it

265/35R19 is only 26.3". Too short to be on the car IMO. 305/30R19 is a hair shorter so why let one bad tire size make you have two bad tire sizes?

Weeeellllll shoot. I owe Michelin (and you guys) an apology. As it turns out, Discount got in the BMW spec 265/35 (not negligence on Discounts part BTW - they are awesome). Soooo, yesterday we/they ordered the generic, non-spec 265/35 and it does not have the rim protector. Thus I have a perfect match set of tires. Fit is perfect.

They are mounted and look amazing. I hope, and pretty sure, when you guys see this 265/35 on the 10" wheel, you are going to change your position on a 10" wheel being too much wheel for that tire. I'll get those pics up ASAP.

With your permission, I'll share your remarks with the 350R crowd (and subsequently Ford) that a Mustang should not be running a ~26" tire, aka the factory size 305/30. And FYI on the Cup 2, the 305/30 is not a hair shorter than the 265/35; they are a match.

They were looking to shave weight. They didn't use those sizes on big brother GT500

With larger brakes that require 20” wheels to clear. I don’t even think 19’s will clear on a GT500

I whole heartedly disagree that 265/35 is too small for a 10” wheel…
