just an FYI for the forum....

I randomly developed a loud, harsh, metallic rattle, worse around 2000rpm. Confirmed not coming from engine bay (phew), but under car. Was going to get it up on jackstands, inspect for loose heat shield on exhaust, or other. Drove by a JiffyLube with a bunch of bays open, asked the guys if they would be willing to see if they could identify the sound, they said sure.

Immediately identified one of the vibration dampers right by the cats as the cause, they tightened it up, checked the other side too, completely fixed in 5 min.

I have a 2016, apparently at some point Ford welded these instead of bolting them on.

Anyway, was obviously very happy that it was such a simple fix.

Good catch.
I recently had a rattle by the passenger muffler that would vibrate around 1200-1500rpm under light load. I stripped the carpet out of the trunk, removed the tail light, and was inspecting under my car for the rattle. It turned out one the fasteners that secures the rear hanger bracket to the body of car was missing and the 2nd one was loose and threaded half way out. A little bit of blue loc-tite to retorque the fastener and was good to go again. I still need to get a 2nd bolt for the bracket.

I had a driveshaft collar metal shield rattle. It was held on by two rivets and they got a little loose. A piece of metal HVAC tape solved it.

I found that after disassembling the entire center console and more. heh. Just super glad to be rid of it.

I had the same on my 17’. After tightening the bolt it has not come loose again. One other rattle I had from under the car was the plastic fasteners that hold the rocker panels on. Would set in to a resonance during freeway cruise. Secured that one and all has been good over the 50K+ I have on it.
