Is this a bearing issue? Annoying creaking noise around wheel hub.

Followed. Exact same problem on my 2015. My mechanic noticed a lot of play in the CV joint that connects that driveshaft to the rear diff.

Does our power-train warranty cover this? I only have a couple months left on it

Yes

Extended warranty coverage periods are available for certain
vehicle parts and conditions. Specifically,
(1) Your vehicle’s Powertrain components are covered for five years or
60,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The extended coverage applies to
the Engine: all internal lubricated parts, cylinder block, cylinder heads,
electrical fuel pump, powertrain control module, engine mounts,
flywheel, injection pump, manifold (exhaust and intake), manifold bolts,
oil pan, oil pump, seals and gaskets, engine thermostat, engine
thermostat housing, timing chain cover, timing chain (gears or belt),
turbocharger/supercharger unit, valve covers, water pump;

Transmission: all internal parts, clutch cover, seals and gaskets, torque
converter, transfer case (including all internal parts), transmission case,

Perfect, better go get this fixed before I install my lift kit

it’s interesting to see the steps they go through to trouble shoot this. All the way up to the tranny and all the way back to my red led markers


They ended up ordering me new axles

This SCREAMS wheel hub to me....

Had the same click a few years back, went online, bought the part, had it installed.... sound gone.

Did a lot of research on this... Saw a lot of chatter about the axle nuts, heard some guys had the shop advise them to replace the entire wheel axle...

Happened at like 10k miles too.... havent had any problems since

[Not sure, but they've been unintentionally fixed. Sent it to get a ceramic coat. The detailer had to remove the wheels for the job. Not sure what they torqued them to after re-installing, but the noise has gone away. Try removing and re-torquing your wheels! Seems to be a common success story on the forums.]

So maybe try that first

I had a rear bearing that was warn and making a hum. So I replaced both rears and all good. BUT since then I’ve had the creaking and learnt it is a common problem and it the thrust washer in conjunction with loosening axle nuts.
I did not replace them when I did the bearings also learnt the axle nut is one use only and I’ve got new ones in the mail as we speak.
Hopefully my new axle nut torqued properly will help fix the creaking , if not I’ll have to pull it apart and replace them.
