I am Planning a trip west to participate in HPDE's. Thunder Valley, Sonoma and or Laguna Seca are on my list. Can you suggest any clubs that sponsor HPDE weekends at these tracks? I'd like to include Utah Motor Sports club in Salt Lake City if you have any suggestions there. It looks like NASA has some events there.
I appreciate any suggestions on how best to participate in HPDE's on these tracks.
Thanks for the input!

Laguna Seca is definitely on my bucket list for HPDE. I live near Indy but lived many years out west. Maybe we should caravan out west together! I'm retired, obviously.

I thought that trying a long distance track trip to the southeast might be more efficient, since that is not so far away and there are quite a few tracks.

Send me a DM, Boss!

Do you mean Thunderhill? Great track BTW. Especially the full 5-mile course.

All of those tracks have websites you can go to and look at their event calendar. Usually there is a link to the organization that has the track rented for a specific date.

FYI, Laguna Seca is one of the most expensive tracks to rent.

Additional California tracks to look into:

"Buttonwillow"
"Willow Springs"
"Chuckwalla"

If you plan to venture up into the Pacific NW you should also check out :

"The Ridge Motorsports park" (one of my all-time favorites)
"Portland International Raceway"
"Oregon Raceway Park"
"Pacific Raceway"

Good luck. Sounds like a fun trip!

OK, sure.

The Ridge is a 2.5 mile track located in Shelton Washington. It's one of the best tracks I've experienced. They call it "The Ridge" because the front straight is below a ridge and 75% of the track is over the top of the ridge. There's plenty of elevation change, and a mini cork-screw modeled after Laguna Seca.

The track can be pretty technical. The front straight is long, smooth, and fast. The first set of corners are really fast if you set everything up right. It has some long sweeping corners and some tight turns that require a lot of brake because they're at the end of a really fast section.

I first raced it back in 2007 when the there was nothing but the track, flag stands, and gravel parking. Since then it has gradually improved and they now have lot's of paved parking, spectator seating, a foot-bridge over the front straight, a clubhouse/cafe, garages, A motocross track, and a 1/5 scale go-cart track.

I have thousand's of laps at this place and still race it twice a year. Last September I scored a new PB time of 1:55 in a diesel BMW. Next on the schedule is a race on the weekend of April 25th.

Thanks, really appreciate it. Yes, I started HPDE in 2013, usually run in advanced groups with most clubs.
