It's not difficult but I can see why someone can think it's awkward. Strut tower brace, wide fenders, low dipstick entry tube. It's not the easiest one to get to.
It is awkward. And yeah, The dipstick isn’t even the problem, it’s the 4-lane strut Tower Bridge. I’m glad it’s there, but, it does interfere. Perhaps a cruel irony that the Voodoo really, really, really likes its oil level checked frequently.

I am not sure if I am properly responding to all of you. It looks like the dipsticks are in about the same place in 2018’s as in 2019’s. I had a little more success today with some practice - and a chiropractor visit! Still very awkward for me at least. I did the check on a cold engine and was able to confirm oil wa at a good level - midway between the holes. As for the tech I called and asked - they explained that they have specific instructions to measure the amount of oil coming out and then the number of quarts going in as per factory set instructions in their manuals. So there is no need to measure. They are probably right, but I would think with oil in particular, some sort of confirmation would be appropriate. And I find it astonishing that the tech did not even know that the car had a dipstick. Since they were only changing fluids I am sure they did not put there most experienced guy on it. But still… .

Hard to believe this one. First, since they followed Ford instructions very likely they torqued the canister and used 5W50, but if I had my oil changed by someone who couldn't find the dipstick I would certainly double check those items. Second, if you ever have trouble with smearing on the dipstick, whether after 10 min cool down or checking cold, just leave the dipstick out ten minutes to allow oil in tube to go down then reinsert the dipstick to check level.

Thanks for both suggestions. I am loving the car though - should have bought one years ago.

I’m sure you’ve noticed by now but it’s mighty hot in there. Even the tower brace gets hot. Pair of gloves is highly recommended for checking the oil. Congrats. Don’t let all the oil talk make you gun shy on driving the hell out of the car. Take care of it in the garage and drive it like a rental on the road. 2016 here running strong.

Reminds of a show from the ‘70s….The Odd Couple, lol. I was just a kid then but I’m wondering, which car is Felix and which is Oscar? GT350 has to be Oscar, right? 😂

The “funny” thing is that they are both about 4 second cars but they feel so different in getting there. I bought both used and both this year after lusting.

When I changed my cam covers to the Ford Performance aluminum ones I relocated the oil dipstick. Much easier now.

Aside from not burning my hand, I don't find removing the dipstick an issue. But getting it back in can be a hunt, especially if the lighting is not good.

Where did you get that dipstick relocation kit, I am assuming the tube and a longer dipstick.

That is from a GT500. It is an extension that goes into the dip stick tube and bolts down the the cam cover. Yes a longer dipstick is needed and no you can't use the GT500 dip stick.
KR3Z-6754-A tube part number
