Hello,
I bought a stupid cheap 2016 GT, previously owned by a irresponsible 19 year old. I am currently undoing the endless amount of missed maintenance and stupid modifications that this poor pony was subjected too.
One such modification is the "sick aftermarket stereo" (his words not mine) it a cheap Sony touch screen that he put in with what appears to be a base model bezel plate with the option 7 inch Sync screen. I'm assuming its a base because it has the 3 push buttons next to the start buttons and not the 4 toggle switches of the premium package. Oddly enough it also has the HVAC panel for a premium with heating and cooled seats, but the Mustang has cloth interior, no idea.
The most important thing for me is the 3 buttons next to the Start/Stop button (Traction Control, Hazard Lights, Steering Wheel Feel) are inoperable, they do not light up with the rest of the dash when the headlights are on, or perform their function. Removing the dash shows that all the plugs on the back of the buttons are seated correctly. Is this a result of having a aftermarket stereo? Do they need to "talk" to the Sync unit in order to function. I find it odd that they don't even illuminate, when the rest of the media controls (which don't work and definitely talk to the old sync unit) do.
Whats your guys wisdom on this? Thanks.
