Nobody's discrediting it. They're just going by the numbers. And one's a production car, one's literally hand built by a race shop
Except you just did

who needs the ZR1X? The ZR1 is faster than the GTD

ZR1X 6m 49.275s
ZR1 6m 50.763s
GTD 6m 52.072s (the one you can actually buy, not the Competition model that hasn't even been released or given details about...)
GTD Comp made the 6:40 time, that model is coming out son.

The ZR1 was on a street alignment still and the GTD was on a track alignment.
That’s not what was said. He said he had it on the track setting, I believe.

Either way, the ZR1 was going to win but still haha.

Watch it again. The GTD was on a track alignment and the ZR1 was on the stock street alignment.

But, Yeah!

Guys, let's be honest. The GTD got whooped by the Vette and even Porsche. Everyday YouTubers are getting the feeling the GTD "can't even touch" the ZR1. It is what it is.

but round 2 is coming up and we will see what's what. Ring times are great for the new car and I bet it means that other things are too. However, when the car is t]put through its paces in the real world by multiple independent reviewers, we will get a more honest picture. Here's hoping For d did enough. Or better yet, more than enough.

Interesting, but the GTD was basically stock while this ZR1 had tune and more horsepower. Cannot help but to think if the GTD had a tune or even minor mods to bring more horsepower, it would of closed the gap they had.

I get that people are saying the ZR1 was not on track alignment, but the thing was lighter and had more horsepower than stock. Had it had stock horsepower, would it have been closer?

In a straight line, the exrtra power helped - and on the long stretches of the track. Did the track actually have long stretches?

In the corners, curves, etc. a track alignment is a far more important advantage than horsepower.

This wasn't apples to apples.

But we have seen apples to apples a few times already. The GTD cannot keep up. It's a fairly large gulf between them, stock for stock.

Ford had a LOT of work to do to make the GTD as good as or better than the ZR1. We really hope they buckled down and got it done.

But this is a Mustang being compared to a corvette. Too completely different classes too.

The only reason people are comparing the two is because Chevy crap out on the Camaro, dodge blew up the challenger, Pontiac just drop off the face of the earth and Ford does not want to make a real challenger for the corvette.

If Ford did not even make the GT500 or the GTD, people would be comparing the ZR1 to its real competition.

If I am not mistaken and read correctly, the GTD was originally supposed to compete with the Porche GT2/3 RS series, not the Corvette.

This is a Mustang GTD compared to a Corvette. This is what Ford said was a "race car modified to be street legal." They marketed it that way, and they priced it that way. The comparison is fair.

If it were a GT or Dark Horse, etc, of course, we would all agree this was not a fair comparison.

But the GTD is a whole new animal. Costs twice as much as a ZR1, built by Multimatic, back seats ripped out, carbon fiber everywhere. etc.

The GTD was meant to take down the Porsche GR3RS! Something that was WAY ahead of everything we previously knw the Vette to be capable of.

Any attempt to avoid comparisons with the ZR1 are just cop outs.

Ford lost this round. they did. That's how it goes sometimes. I'd say WE lost this round as Mustang fans, but let's be honest. No one asked for a 400k mustang. And if we did, it sure as heck better be able to do way better than this one. The GTD does what the Dark Horse SC/GT500/Cobra tier should be aiming for by now.

Round 2 is coming up though with the GTDC. And by all accounts, it's the one. Time will tell.
