I have a 2020 10 speed, PP. Just curious if anyone has swapped to 4.10 gears? How drivable are they with them? Is it hard to keep under control off the line?

Ford used to sell 4.09 gears for the mustang but they are no longer available. I installed them in my 19GT. However mine is a six speed car and they work great even on the highway.

Steeda did it to their 2024 A10, but they ended up going back to 3.somethings

Way too much gear

This is a discussion I'm interested in. I'm swapping my 3.55 for 3.73 in the next couple of weeks. Mine is a 10r80 and I'm staying N/A so I'm interested to see what difference I'll see. Im not expecting a world of change. With my current setup I'm hoping it'll increase a bit off the line.

The 10r80 has a 4.70:1 1st gear ratio so I was told gears will not gain much if any. Then it stays right in the powerband. Like was said by Robvas, Steeda tried 4.09s and went back.

What tuning hurdles did you have to overcome, if any? Any increase in driveline vibrations? And what was your mpg loss if I can ask?

I have the Ford performance tune so was able to use the pro cal to change the ratio. I lost nothing in town and highway dropped from 27 to 25 mpg. negligable could have been the wind on those days. But mine has the mt 82D4 Trans and it really helped to swap gears.

Somebody on here was having a hell of a time with the computer after doing gears. I think he eventually threw in the towel and put the 3.55s back in.

Any driveshaft upgrades or additional stuff to make the gears play nice? Driveline vibrations? I did 4.10s in my old 04 IRS and it vibrated so bad I had to get an aluminum driveshaft. That took 95% of it out and I lived semi happily with it after that. Don't want to go down that road again though.

I had vibrations when I had the steeda trans mount insert, after I removed that they went away. As for the programming that was the nice thing about the pro cal it had the 4.09 as an option to choose. Made it a piece of cake. Car had less than 2500 miles when I made the change. It's at 19k now and operates just like new.

We live in a small town so very low miles its actually the wife's car now we traded in her ecoboost for a Ranger for me and she kept the GT.

Double checked with our Drag Team.
When we first started out on regular bolt Ons, we ran the 4.09.
Once we got more power and more torque, we switched to 3.53 and 3.73, and have been between the tow depending on tire size and how the car is reacting to changes/environment.

Currently, we are going to try out 3.3x. Since the change to the Steeda Hardcore 31-1024-101 Mustang Power Package (24+) and even making even more power, we are thinking that 3.3x is tall enough to shift 1 time less, saving time. That's the theory at least, now we go test.

I think I compared the gears years ago, and the 2015 6 speed with 3.73 PP diff ratio was quite a bit shorter in gearing in first compared to a 1970 Drag Pack car with a 4.30 diff.

It looked to me like the 3.31 was the best option. Though admittedly I was autocrossing at the time, and a taller 2nd gear is usually an advantage there.
