For the sake of the conversation if they came out with a track only model with a bigger fuel cell, fixed seat, etc ( similar to FP350S or GT Mark IV)…

Yes. The shortcomings were presented to the right people early on. However I suspect that they opted to not change the design for only a very small percentage of people that this problem affects. Face it, how many people who are out there running unrestricted at the Daytona Speedway? Most are out there in groups 2, 3, and 4 which are held back by point bys and no passing zones while stuck behind masses who are there doing parade laps.
I get it, its a business decision on both sides of the table. For me, the shoe doesn't fit. For them, why redesign the car for only a few people?
I have a video around here that demonstrates fuel starvation at 16 minutes starting with a full tank in my 500. Maybe if I get up off my ass, ill post it.
If I were to run a few extra warmup laps and cool down laps, one might get the full session. However that is a major compromise. I shouldn't have to compromise on a $600k (correct boxes checked) car.
GTD = Grand Touring Daytona. 16 minutes isnt enough IMHO
