Hey Guys/Gals
I'm new to this thread, New to mustangs.

I am a club racer and ia long term instructor. I just bought a 2019 gt350r. I am a corvette guy, raced a c6world challenge and a spec C5. A few years ago I had a student in a gt350 and I was so impressed by the feel of this car while in the right seat. Since that first experience on the days I was instructing I would look at the roster and look for a student in a gt 350 and made a point to instruct that student. Since then I bought one due to the impression the car made on me.

I will occasionally track the car maybe 2-3 times per yr.

QUESTIONS:

Other than the carbon rims. What should I be aware of regarding vibrating part issues, ie drain plug, starter bolts etc when driven on track.....

Any info would be helpful

Thanks
Tom

Can you better describe where the vibration is coming from and when and how often? For example is it vibrating in the brake pedal, steering wheel, all the time, under braking, all speed ranges, only on track and at track speeds, etc?

Could be something as simple as slag in the wheels throwing the balance off.

Also what track? That is helpful as well.

He’s asking for things to look for in vibrations, not that he has a current problem. Typically in bikes that are tracked or raced one would safety wire the caliper bolts, banjo bolts, oil fill cap, drain plugs and other items that can work loose due to vibrations. Since he’s a track guy I assume he’s wanting to know if it’s a good idea to do the same on the R he just bought.

DC Shelby you are correct. Nothing is wrong with the car. I just got it and its perfect.

I know the typical track nut n bolt routine.

I am curious as to what I should be aware of with these cars, mechanically, if tracked a couple times of yr with and advanced driver skill.

My bad! The major vibration issue that I encountered was with the transmission tone ring. To the best of my knowledge I never had any issues that I am aware of that revolved specifically around the vibrations themselves.

However, in my opinion/experience, the voodoo does not love to hang out in the higher RPM band for extended periods of times as fun as it may be.

The forum has tons of useful info buried in it and hopefully a better gear head has more direct info but to reiterate nothing I know of shook itself off the car except for the front spoiler. Make sure all the bolts are in there (about 6- if I remember correctly). They are hard to see and go in at an angle but those would loosen up on mine and the the front spoiler would drag int he front and I ran it over it at least once on the track.

Welcome, enjoy the car, and I hope to see you at the track!

I don't want to discourage you; however, I would ask this question at the https://trackmustangsonline.com/ site. You can check the forums there. When I was trying to get into HPDE this was very useful resource in making the decision which platform to go with.

When my car was stock, the only bolts that came loose were the axle nut, which is a known fault. torque those, then paint pen them. It killed a hub for me.

Other items are pretty minor, but generally the car doesn't vibrate itself apart. What a lot of people call a vibration caused by the motor I would probably define more as "harmonics", in that you will never feel it, but it's there. But that just kills the motor. Don't remove any of the weighted items hanging off the engine, or motor mounts, and you will be fine.

Didn't the 2019 specifically have changes to reduce engine vibration issues?

See what HoneyBadger has to say on the topic, he has more track miles than most. Some great info on what fails by him.

Be wary of mods (headers, and oil pans/pickups) which often can fail earlier than the OEM 350 parts, and consider refreshing or checking your engine and trans mounts more often.

No. Minor items for the most part are all that changed. If you drive any GT350 on roads, not track, I'd bet it lives a long life. Start taking it to the redline every shift, high G corners, carrying a lot of rpm, you're going to have a bad day eventually.

But damn it sounds good and has excellent power delivery characteristics.
