Has anyone used a block heater on their voodoo? I understand that warm up and cool down is important for these engines. I thought a heater may help with cold start. They're simple to use.

No problem starting at all. It was recommended to warm it up before driving it. Just thought it might help. It wouldn’t hurt anything. Just wondering if anyone had done it. Maybe it’s the diesel in me. 😁

Too many cheap heaters burning cars to the ground. Even OEM ones have issues. In short, it ain’t broke, so dont fix it.

The engine will heat itself up just fine. If you’re concerned about lubrication on startup theres a way to run the starter and pump oil for longer before actually firing it up, and I’d only do that if its been sitting for quite some time. If you take the oil fill cap off you’ll see theres plenty of oil still sticking to components to cover the second or so before oil from the pump gets to all the spots.

Race cars use oil heaters. They can't just start up cold and idle forever to heat the oil up before the race.

That just means putting around gently until it gets up to temperature. Don't beat on it or rev it too much while cold.

Being in Virginia you are nowhere near the need for a block heater. Of course it won't hurt, but it's almost pointless in your climate.

I saw this thread and had to look twice to make sure I wasn’t on the powerstroke forum.

Maybe the oil heater would be viable but the frost plug style would likely unevenly heat the motor so I’m not sure that’s any better.

Thank you all. I'll leave it alone. It's not an everyday driver. There won't be any rush when I do drive it. I'll let it warm up on its own.
