Hey all !
I thought I’d share my experience on this since I’ve seen a lot of threads on it and did a bunch of research myself.
my B&O door speakers crapped out on my 2019 GT and I wanted to do as simple a replacement as I could , but not use the factory crap again.
the door 6.5”s were an obvious choice for me - the Powerbass ones fit exactly and didn’t require any changes.
the 3.5”s were less obvious since those are 2ohm on the B&O system. The only 2ohm choices I could find were coax with a built in tweeter which I didn’t want . I ended up going with the DS18 3.5 4ohm. The factory housing required minor modifications for it to fit and for the new speaker wire to come out of the house (just drilled a few holes) I ended up having to abandon the factory connector for this one, but no big deal to me - not like I’ll be putting a factory one back in. The increased impedance on these speakers has not made a significant volume difference and they sound great.
the end result was a relatively inexpensive replacement for both doors (around 200 bucks for both doors) that sounds better than the B&O speakers ever did. Not A LOT better , but better!
I also replaced the sub with the pioneer while I was at it and that sounds better also. Again not A LOT better but still, better for 70 bucks.
I know I could have done more , could have done better speakers etc but again I was just trying to keep it simple and relatively inexpensive while still improving on the original .
I added photos of the various parts I used .
