Hard to be patient with these toys, but (in my opinion) you're absolutely right about the homework. You have time. Your OEM wheels are good looking (by most accounts) and purpose built to handle street and track--never heard of them failing. For a non-R, the two things you will get from aftermarket wheels are increased performance (from weight reduction) and personalized appearance. On the other hand, a bad choice may check the appearance box but can lead to damage or even catastrophic failure. Thanks all for the replies. Looks like I have some more homework to do.
+1I had them and would not recommend them. You will have a caliper clearance of about the width of a credit card. Rocks will get in there and will chew up your calipers and wheels.
They are cheap and if you dont mind what comes along with a cheap wheel, then you will have no regrets.
Thank you Mike. I take pride in representing things as they are. I went the extra two miles to make sure the wheels were delivered to you in the best way possible.+1
And, I'm the guy that bought the 6GR's from Tomster! My CF's are wrapped up in felt-lined wheel bags all safe and sound. I wanted an affordable replica to use as a street replacement. Tom was very clear that the caliper clearance is razor-thin - he wasn't embellishing. I have noticed small pebbles sometimes get lodged in between the caliper and the wheel barrel, but so far I have had good luck with them and I regularly check all four when I am raising the car up on the lift.
I even went as far as reaching out to the Project 6GR people via email and the owner called me directly to discuss my concerns and reassure me they would stand behind their product in the event the barrel gouging damages the wheels. It was a very positive experience, and I respect what Project6GR is trying to do.
That said, would I do business with Tomster again? Absolutely, without a doubt, great guy. Would I buy these wheels again? Probably not.
Mike
Thanks for all the info guys. Tank that is exactly what I have settled on doing. I don't have the scratch to place 4G plus on a set of wheels and 1600 on tires etc right after purchase. So will just run the pilot sport 4s on the stock wheels for now. Upgrade down the road when cash allows. Again everyone thanks for the input.OP, save your pennies and bite the bullet, get a set of Signatures from @50 Deep . Beautiful products, great investment.
lots of insight to give, but I will wait. I personally experienced what many others have already mentioned. Led me to where I am now. Kind words have already been spoken. All I will say is here at Signature Wheel we can do more than you thought was possible.OP, save your pennies and bite the bullet, get a set of Signatures from @50 Deep . I think that’s a good decision. I don’t know what’s planned but last year he was able to do a group buy and had a Black Friday sale. Maybe the timing will fit into your plans. Thanks for all the info guys. Tank that is exactly what I have settled on doing. Thank you brother, i appreciate the love.I’ll give @VibeMotorsports a shoutout here. I have their R spec GT-7R wheels in R spec. Light weight and plenty of brake clearance.
