So was curious we have a glove box in our car. Does anyone use driving gloves? Why do you personally use them? I tried gloves once and thought they were more a hindrance than a help. Couldn't get the same feedback feel from the wheel. And driving shoes? Do these really do anything? Never tried them, are they to better feel the pedal?

Mostly just curious who actually uses driving gloves and shoes outside of racing for daily. Brand , why and how you feel about it.

I don't know about driving shoes, never tried them and have no intention to. But driving gloves I like. I only wear them occasionally, not on a regular basis. But when I do, I love them.

Driving gloves, the perforated leather ones, fingers optional, are a leftover from the days of wood rimmed steering wheels. The polished wood was slippery and the leather gripped better than sweaty hands. I own a pair, or 2, but I haven't worn them in close to a decade. Nice for nostalgia but not much else.
The nomex ones are entry level safety equipment, the gift you give yourself after your first DE but then feel ridiculous wearing without the rest of the suit (which is also ridiculous at your 2nd DE).

Daily driving - no - it's ridiculous (IMHO).

Autocrossing / HPDE - shoes yes (Pilotis bought for $35 off their sale since I never wanted to spend much not being sure they actually make a difference - but they do), gloves (cheap nomex ones) - used to just because in the summer, by hands were always slippery from sweat / sunscreen. Not anymore.

I figured its more a mindset. If you are going out to just drive, it gets you in the mode more by slipping on a pair of gloves? Kinda playing the part. I don't see how nowadays they really are of any advantage. if anything with new wheel material I think bare hands gripe better.

Have had these for 15 years. My wife got them as a gift when I got my Jaguar (British Racing Green, of course) back in 05’. Haven’t worn them in years. Maybe I should try and find them.

Especially if you're driving an old British roadster.

I love driving barefoot in the summer. Hell, I love driving barefoot year round.
Glad I'm not the only person that enjoys barefoot driving. It's either that or dying with a pair of flip flops on.

I have wondered about shoes for track days. My tennis shoes feel very bulky when jumping from pedal to pedal.
