From Car and Driver:Now it's as fast as a Ford GT? Wow, the hype is strong! You realize the C8 is quite a bit heavier and has ~150 less HP? Not sure how it becomes faster than the Ford GT. Is it the all season tires that make it so fast?
I agree people are going overboard.
Frankly I would love to have one if they had a manual transmission. I also wish they were about 500 lbs lighter. Or at least 300. For a mid engine all aluminum car with a tiny cabin, this thing is a PORKER.
Maybe the C9 will have better features and be set up more sporty. I was really thrilled when I first heard the announcement, but after thinking for a few days I think it might be another generation of Corvette to bypass.
2019 FORD GT
Pumping out 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque, the V-6 is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In our testing, it launched the rear-wheel-drive GT to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds at 134 mph.
The extra weight and less horsepower seem to work ok. The Z06 version will probably embarrass the GT.
