What oil weight are you guys using on your 2018 5.0's? The manual states
"5.0L: Prior to the track event, drain the
engine oil, replace the oil filter and
change the engine oil to 5W-30. After
the track event, drain the engine oil,
replace the oil filter and refill the engine
oil with 5W-20."
What is considered a track event? Full force racing for like 15 minutes straight on a track for laps or 1/4 mile racing? I changed from the OEM synthetic blend 5w20 to Full synthetic castrol edge extended performance and a amsoil filter at 1175 miles. I may go 5w30 next time. I do spirited driving on some roads with quite a few 0-100 mph pulls but usually spaced out in time, not back to back to back full out redlining for 15 mins straight.
I kind of think the 5w20 recommendation is mainly for economy and may not protect as well if you do get the oil hot..
What do you guys think? My oil temp is about 75% toward the hot range (past middle). My oil pressure looks like this at idle after some spirited driving, it still does go to like 80+ when in the higher rpm ranges :
