What oil weight are you guys using on your 2018 5.0's? The manual states

"5.0L: Prior to the track event, drain the
engine oil, replace the oil filter and
change the engine oil to 5W-30. After
the track event, drain the engine oil,
replace the oil filter and refill the engine
oil with 5W-20."

What is considered a track event? Full force racing for like 15 minutes straight on a track for laps or 1/4 mile racing? I changed from the OEM synthetic blend 5w20 to Full synthetic castrol edge extended performance and a amsoil filter at 1175 miles. I may go 5w30 next time. I do spirited driving on some roads with quite a few 0-100 mph pulls but usually spaced out in time, not back to back to back full out redlining for 15 mins straight.

I kind of think the 5w20 recommendation is mainly for economy and may not protect as well if you do get the oil hot..

What do you guys think? My oil temp is about 75% toward the hot range (past middle). My oil pressure looks like this at idle after some spirited driving, it still does go to like 80+ when in the higher rpm ranges :

You can put whatever oil you want in the car. It was engineered to last the warranty and for mpg at 5w-20. You can put 5w-30 5w-50. Its up to you.
I use 5w-20 HPS royal purple from 500 miles. Currently have 18k on my 2015 mustang with 13k with blower running 12psi and many WOTs on freeway and about 30 or so 1/4 miles trips not one issue change oil once a year or 12k miles. Every oil Analysis Says oil is fine and can go longer. Stop worrying and enjoy the car. You will sale or trade the car before 5w-20 oil breaks the engine lol

Spirited driving isn't even close to track use. If it bothers you, put 5W30 in, I would keep 5W20.

Thanks guys

Your spirited driving is not even close. Keep it @ 5w-20. 1100 miles...? Lol.
Yea its low mileage but it was the first change (i got 3 free oil changes with the car purchase) and I wanted to get the break in oil out and get some full synthetic oil in there. It did look clean still though. I had a 630rwhp cts-v with 93k miles that would collect about 12 oz of oil over 5k miles in its catch can and the oil analysis weren't great even with just 3000 miles on the oil, so I got used to just changing that every 2k myself or just adding some. Ill probably go 4k mile intervals on full synthetic with this car, although the oil says its good for 15k miles and the filter even says 25k miles (castrol edge extended performance and amsoil filter). This car catches much less oil in the catch can, im guessing its just less blowby or w/e since its a new engine and naturally aspirated.

yeah by track event they mean a road course where high rpm for extended periods of time is the norm. drag racing you aren't in high rpm for extended periods.

I see whipple highly recommends 5w50 oil if you get their SC :

"Whipple highly recommends running Ford Motorcraft 5W-50 full synthetic motor oil (PN #XL-5W50-QGT) vs the stock 5W-20. You will need 10 quarts for an oil change along with a Motorcraft oil filter #FL-500."

Whipple is forced induction and making 1.5x+ horsepower. The level of stress is much higher for the engine.
