My one hesitation with Waze is that it fully depends on fellow citizens actually entering in that they see a police officer. Im sure in bigger cities this is more common but I would hate to build a dependence on crowdsourced data that in some situations can be completely unreliable.

But yeah definitely better than nothing. I guess I should install this thing.
I'm always amazed how good waze is, even roads i never expected it to be accurate based on little traffic it usually is. I say usually, but its actually never missed a cop shooting radar when I've been using it

Can someone post the link (or model) of the exact Blendmount they used? I have one in my F150 and want to put one in my wife's 2016 EB Convertible. I assume the mirror connection is the same for all models.

This is for a Valentine One.

Thanks

I picked up a BlendMount BV1-2002 for My V1.

I got mine from Sonic Electronix. Best price offer they take is 71.00.

Would you mind posting a photo of your setup?

Looking around, it looks like there are lots of ways to make a V1 more expensive. I'm trying to figure out which would be the most reasonable solution. I've also been thinking of adding a dash cam, but I'm very much not interested in having a bunch of clutter on my windshield so figuring out how best to tuck things away is important.
Sure, here's my setup. It cost all of $4 for heavy duty velcro. I like the idea of the blend mounts but there's an awful lot of hardware there that looks clunky to me, but the worst part for me is that it hangs down below the mirror and announces itself to thieves and police. The way I have mine mounted it's tucked above the mirror (basically hitting the windshield header panel when I have my mirror adjusted properly) so it's hidden when I'm driving and doesn't announce itself to crooks if I leave it mounted in the car. You can see it if you crouch down and look up for it, but you won't see it if you walk by and casually look.

The concealed display is about $39 if I remember right and I have that mounted in the dash between the gauges. Keeps everything dark above so there's no display to be seen by people following from behind.

My son has a similar set up in his '97 Cobra hardtop. Escort 9500 clipped to the visor with the remote display installed in place of the factory coin holder in the console. That's pretty slick too.

I received my mirror tap and my blendmount over the weekend and ran into a problem. I cant get the ground prong inside that small hole! I tried with pliers and they just keep bending!
Anyone else experience the same problem?

I got an email from Sonic saying the BV1-2002 is on back order with no ETA even though their site says they have one in stock. I cancelled my order and found the BV1-2002 on eBay for 49.99

I installed the mirror tap today. Getting the leads to stay in was a challenge. I finally found a stop where the leads were tight. I was able to get a good connection buy pushing the leads into the top of the pin holes.

Question, are you able use a sun shade with your escort and blend mount.
Can anyone else confirm?

BTW thanks for the detailed pics. Really want to get this setup.
No problem. Sunshade fits same as if nothing were there.

i bought the Mirror tap and had a similar problem. couldn't get the prongs to stay in. then at the suggestion of another owner I used a pair of needle nose pliers. after much struggling i ended up bending the prongs and breaking the wiring. I just ordered another set for $10 instead of the $30 i spent for the mirror tap. will try that one next week. for what seems to be such a simply install this was very frustrating

I've just spent over an hour screwing with the Mirror tap prongs. These things just will NOT stay in the mirror. I've had issues with other mirrors, but always seem to finally get it them to stay. Not with this thing. And for a $35 Mirror Tap, this thing really is a POS, worth about $2.

I'm open for ideas if anyone has them.

I didn't take pictures but I ended up cutting the electrode on my kit in half with some small wire cutters to get them to fit better. I haven't had an issue in over a year since doing so.

Here's a pic of mine I got the smaller sized ones can't remember I believe .25.
It literally took 30 seconds. If they're not fitting you probably got the longer ones.
