I am looking for some honest opinions. I have a 2016 GT Vert I currently have 32 more payments at 0% until it is payed off. I estimate my trade in equity is around 2000-4000. The local dealer has a 2018 Gt just like mine but it has the following that mine does not, performance pack1, 10 speed auto, digital dash , and the active exhaust. I am see sawing between trading mine in for the 18 or upgrading the 16 with the digital dash, premium console and trying to fit Roush's active exhaust upgrade to my FRP quad exhaust. The big things that are keeping me from purchasing is the thought of starting over on a 6 year loan and the front bumper of the 18 is still not my favorite. I figure I can do the upgrade for less than 6K. What do you think?

Thanks for the reply bjstang. Yes I would not have the A10, but that is not that big of a deal to me. As far as power I am only down by ~5 Hp. I have FRP Power ack 2 installed on the 16.

FPP2 was one of my favorite mods! That and slicks and 18's are seeing your tail lights!

Power to the ground it's much more than that with the A10. Tough call. If the A10 and PP1 isnt that big a deal to you I'd say upgrade your car.

You will never get the price of the mods back on the '16. The value of some of those mods is built into the new car, and though you'll still not get all of it back, the ROI may be better on the newer car. Also, future resale of '15-'17s will probably take a small hit due to the upgrades in the newer cars, especially the automatics. If the new car has the features you want, and you can get a deal you're happy with, go for it.

We have a '17 GT PP1 manual, and I'm also very interested in the A10, mag ride, active exhaust, and digital dash. At this point, I'd wait for a '19, unless I could get a screaming deal on an '18. I also might have to order it to get it the way I want it. The big hanging point for me is color... I don't like any of the current colors as much as our Grabber Blue, so I'll probably just keep the '17, change the exhaust and call it a day.

I say put your money into the 2016. You’re already over halfway to paying it off at 0%.

I agree with everyone above! Plus as you said, "the front bumper of the 18 is still not my favorite". Me neither!

I have a ‘16 GT vert too, I wouldn’t trade it for an ‘18. For me, not having the 10 speed and PP doesn’t hurt my feelings. The digital dash and active exhaust would be nice, but not enough improvements over all to trade it off and to eat all that depreciation again.

BeeBop, I'm in a similar situation. I went and priced out a factory order for a Kona 19 GT, premium 400a, A10 3.55, & Active exhaust. MSRP $43,300 and I got them down to $39,000
They offered me $24,000 for my very well kept 15 GT 400a, 3.31 manual in which I owe $14,000 and have 30 months left at 2.5% interest.
I was so close to pulling the trigger but I have close to $7,000 in parts done to mine over the last 3 years, what a waste. And I like my color better.
Even with the wifes approval, I decided not to do it and I'm going to do some Steeda suspension upgrades to foolishly modify my car more... 40 year old kid!.. lol

For me, a paid off 2013 Boss is better than a 2019 Bullitt that I would owe $20 or $30K on. Back in my drinking days, the BEST beer was FREE beer....now it is microbrew, but paid off stuff is where it's at.

You guys are made of money. I say keep the car and pay it off. It’s one thing going in for the first time but if you already have a functioning GT why take the chance on an 18 or 19 that may (and I said “may”) have some widely discussed engine issues. Plus I hate to say it but after all this time I still prefer the original front end. Going in for the first time, the front end doesn’t matter. But you have a choice, I’d stick with your current car.

Some people really are. This guy isn't as bad, but guy in a local group spent months waiting on his custom order 2018 GT Premium to come in, modded the hell out of it, and now (like 2 months later it seems), he's parting out and trading the car in for a truck. Not exactly the same case as 16 for 18, but still blows my mind.

The difference between my previous 16 GT Premium and my 19 GT Premium (Active Exhaust, PP1, 401a (digital dash), A10, Magnaride) is absolute night and day. The performance, the handling, the interior and build quality, and my goodness, that Active Exhaust in track-mode is just NASTY. Of course, the difference with me and you is that I was leasing my 16 GT.
