Ordered and bought mine last week. Didn’t know they did a change. Otherwise I would have went with jlt. Installed the intake yesterday. Was confused why the product looked different than video installs.

When I called PMAS and spoke to the Product Specialist to see if they offered a different heat shield or if I could purchase the older design one; He said he didn't see what the issue was with IAt's in the 150's . :eyebulge: WoWOrdered and bought mine last week. Yup!When I called PMAS and spoke to the Product Specialist to see if they offered a different heat shield or if I could purchase the older design one; He said he didn't see what the issue was with IAt's in the 150's . :eyebulge: WoW
About 6 months ago, PMAS asked for feedback on their FB site. They were most certainly told that the new shield sucks, that the pictures need to be updated AND that IATs can be quit high at times.Yea. But...
I’m disappointed in PMAS. I feel they slid one by me. The information and pics on all the websites show the older design with larger heat shield and aluminum MAF.
Then they slip in a smaller, poorer heat shield and a plastic MAF which they “think” “May” be better but can’t show any evidence of it actually dissipating heat better. Anyone here know if he plastic is better than aluminum?
Felt the same way here in Ontario when a pound of bacon (454 grams) was skimmed down to 375 grams and they advertised new packaging and a higher price.
Just a bit misled is all. My own fault though. Buyer beware as they say...
Now, if they changed the pics on their website and made a statement with proven data of the new MAF being better and a even a notice of the change of the heat shield I wouldn’t feel this way. There have been way too many people buy the new one without any knowledge of the changes.
I have done a few things to hopefully remedy the heat shield, but my fear is that the new plastic MAF will just get heat soaked and take 3 times as long to cool as the original aluminum one. That may be reality. I can’t find anything even on ge Internet about dissipation of heat with aluminum versus nylon.
After several emails to PMAS and nothing, I’m thinking they know but aren’t really interested in sharing.
Okay I hear you. But I’m not sure I know the answer. I’m dense with this... but got a medical question?About 6 months ago, PMAS asked for feedback on their FB site. They were most certainly told that the new shield sucks, that the pictures need to be updated AND that IATs can be quit high at times.
It seems that something as simple as updating a picture is too hard for them.
They couldn’t even tell me the quantity of oil to be used on the filter FFS.
Honestly, I think the new shield is nothing more than a support for the MAF housing. It hardly shields anything.
Plastic vs Aluminium...
I’m going to say that ally is a fantastic conductor of heat when compared to plastic. Take two cars for an identical drive. One with PMAS aluminium MAF, one with stock air box. Pop the hoods, touch the aluminium and plastic parts. You’ll soon work it out.
Yes. But I already bought and have the PMAS. I hate modifying my modifications. I feel misled.Plenty of other options out there fella's. Steeda - JLT - Airaid - Corsa and on and on and....
I don’t want to come across like an idiot, but Did PMAS tell you that or is that your own observation? I can’t get anyone’s time of Day there. As I said earlier, I love the elbow and filter. I know it flows very well. But the kit should have come exactly as their Pictures. Aluminum MAF and bigger full shield. I am not trying to be argumentative, but I just don’t know enough about it to make any arguments either way other than knowing high temps are not good for making power.People experiencing high(er) IAT's with the PMAS (even the older box design) are well documented. PMAS says more airflow trumps lower temps - i agree.

And for the record - i felt slighted too when i received the newer shield instead of the older box style. All went away as soon as installed it, loaded up the tune, and took her for a ride.
