Pacific Coast Highway.... for obvious reasons
My favourite U.S. drive - this pic is from my 2013 trip and was taken somewhere near Hearst Castle.

First time I'd ever set foot in a Mustang.

Yes! I did not think I would enjoy the dragon in my GT due to how large it is and how tight the road winds, but it is a blast!!! I actually enjoyed driving the Mustang through the dragon better than my Daytona 675 haha.
I am planning a spring trip there. Need to push the orange beast.

I see lots of votes for the Tail of the Dragon. Agreed, great drive! Love the camaraderie at the restaurant there. Has anyone driven Montana's "Going to the Sun" highway??

Best road driven so far...easily the Transfăgărășan. I had to work in that area for over a month last summer and drove it often. Epic! 2.5 hours of insanity. Just watch out for the herds of sheep early in the morning...they move like the zombies in "28 days later"! :eyebulge:

There are a lot of great roads in southern and southeastern Ohio. The best known is probably the Car & Driver test loop in Hocking Hills. It's typical of the mixture of fast undulating sweepers and tighter technical stuff you see in that region.

I was fortunate enough to live in Monterey, CA for a while and really enjoyed the roads out there, particular the PCH and the winding roads in the Carmel Valley area. Now that I'm on the east coast I've got access to a bunch of awesome roads in TN and NC (like the Tail of the Dragon and the Rattler's Run), but they're about 4 hours away. It's absolutely worth it though.

There are actually a ton of groups that sign up and hold events at the Dragon.

Check this out.

Stang Driven is a Tail of the Dragon event coming up!

Thanks for the tip. I'm moving to soon the Olympic Peninsula, WA so I'll add the Sea to Sky Highway to my to-do list. I am also an avid cyclist and travel the many canyons here in California including this one which is about 34 miles from my house.

Tail of the Dragon is definitely great.. I hit it up several times during the year. Just make sure that you go on a week day, not a weekend. It's very crowded on the weekends, and the local enforcement love to hang out then =). I usually go early or mid-week, and can thoroughly enjoy it. Moonshiner 28 and several of the other roads leading up to the dragon are just as good.

Cherohalah Skyway is not to far from the Dragon either, and I personally enjoy it more. Its 43 miles of uninhabited forest/mountain roads. More long, winding curvy roads.

My top 3 in no particular order are the Sea to Sky Highway in B.C., Beartooth Highway in Montana/Wyoming, and the Big Sur Highway here in California.

I guess I take my roads for granted around here considering I live 1hr from the Tail of the Dragon. If you guys ever come back to TN hit me up on here. I can give you 500mi of roads way better than the Dragon with less traffic and cops, just ask tedj101. As far as awesome roads Ive driven.

Hana Hwy
PCH from Morro Bay to Golden Gate
Dragon
Cherohala Skyway
Blue Ridge Pkwy
And did Pikes Peak 3 weeks ago

Suches Loop only because to get there, do it and get back is a 4 hour trip including lunch. I need to do the Dragon during the week sometime soon.
