Hi, if possible would the lucky people who have picked up their car please put the delivery Milage on this thread. May help with preventing cars getting pre delivery joy ride as it appears that one member on here has extra 20 miles on their new car.

I will try and keep this updated.

It's hardly 20 extra is it?

It's going to have a few miles on it just from being shuttled around between the factory, docks etc etc and then it's going to be taken on a roadtest as part of the PDI.

For what it's worth mine had 15.

Most of the cars that I have delivered have arrived with between 15-20 miles on the clock.
Like centrium said they will put a few miles on driving from the factory, to docks, off ships, into transporters, etc.

In defence of the OP, the member in question said his dealer put 20 miles on the thing after he'd test driven it - off the transporter with 6 miles, 20 mile test drive, 20 "mysterious" miles, then collected...

True, but a good proportion of those 20 would be needed as part of the PDI.

Actually, come to think of it, how was he allowed to take it for a test drive if it hadn't been roadtested as part the PDI, or even PDI'd at all?! I can't see a dealer allowing a customer to take a brand new car out that hasn't had a whole load of safety checks.

So had it been PDI'd or not and if it had, how can it not have been roadtested as that's quite a major part of a PDI?

All good questions
Maybe the PDI happened during the first 6 miles...dunno, but sure the member in question will be a long in due course to sort it out ;)

I know this is a different level of paranoia, but there was this one time that I dropped a car off at the dealers for a service and I took a photo of the mileage, on the clock with the dealership front door in the background, so a time and dated picture just before booking in to mitigate/have a hissy fit if there was excess mileage on the car :ninja:

Good practice to let them know as well that you've noted the mileage

Just wish I'd taken my cd's out the car, stupid thief mechanic stole one cd of a triple album set, that was in the player ffs!

This is why I'm putting in a front and rear camera in the Mustang when I get it.

Anything that isn't screwed down seems to be seen as the 'spoils' of the trade! I remember my first trip to a Ford main dealer, I didn't know the etiquette and almost everything was stripped; sunglasses, A-Z mapbooks (remember them), tapes etc. I swear the fillings out my teeth were missing?!

If Ford exercise anything like the level of quality control like they do at the BMW plant in the UK where Minis are built, excessive pre delivery mileage might be down to the QC guys trying to locate and fix something like a rattle.

Or am I deluding myself that this would happen at Ford?

We get MyKey do we not? Could be useful for future dealer visits?

I went to see mine yesterday, Thursday, after it had just ended it's 3 and a bit month trip from Flat Rock. I noted it had 16 miles on the clock.

I'm picking it up this Monday. I'll post the new mileage.

To clairfy guys

The car I purchased was allocated as a dealer demo, but had never been used (never registered or a thing) it was stored in their compound waiting on the new year to be sorted as a demo.

In the meantime I managed to bag it.

On my test drive on Monday it had 6 miles on it. When the test drive was over it had 26 miles.
Then and only then was it PDI'd, registered and taxed etc... and I collected on Thursday when it had 46 miles on it.

I am not that fussed about the extra 20 miles as no doubt the PDI and the recall work, and the filling of the tank probably added a few miles. No doubt the dealer staff had a bit of a play as I think its the first GT they had access to. I am just happy the dealer went out of his way to sort it all for me and I have nothing bad to say about them.

Car now has 130 miles on it :D

I wouldn't be worried about the 20 extra miles on the clock, it's more how the car was driven for those 20 miles.
