Well if a dealer told you; it must be true.

:bolt:

Only relaying what I was told but I didn't believe a word , but some dealers actually do tell the truth

Just ordered mine from Inverness... asked what would happen if for some reason I had to cancel and was told that they cannot legally withold my deposit! Mixed messages...:paddle:

I actually spoke to a lawyer and citizens advice , who told me to speak to consumer advice. So under consumer law the contract was taken out in the garages premises so like I said in the eyes of the law I am the one who broke the contract , it would have been different if they had done anything to the order.

Speaking to people's ford regarding the mustang or RS they even say that the deposit is non refundable but could be transferred to other models .

At the end of the day it's only a grand and compared to what the specced up RS6 was going to cost I got off very lightly ,I still would give my left leg for a F/L panther black RS6 but the way the oil industry is the now I might not even be buying a 1.0 eco boost as $35 a barrel is very scary and no doubt more jobs will get cut

My opinion would be to get the Mustang GT. I test drove a Jag XE, BMW 328i M-Sport (intent on buying a 335) and an Audi S5. The Mustang ticks all those boxes and has far more character than the two Germans - though its a close call with the Jaguar, the Jag is nearly 10k more expensive.

If you get the Focus RS then you will own what will undoubtedly be a fantastic driver's car, BUT, its still a Focus. You'll drive around spotting Focus after Focus after Focus and it really wont look like anything special. The MK2 Focus RS looked insane and you could spot it from a million miles away - the MK3... has slightly different bumpers.

The Mustang will look totally unique given that large GT Cars (let alone American Pony Cars) are a rare sight on UK roads. You'll feel a whole lot better about your purchase if you look out the Window and see a hood twelve miles long parked on your driveway.

If you're going to go for a totally bonkers performance car, go for the actually bonkers looking one.

Well today was going to be the day that I drove the 5.0 mustang but seen as Aberdeen seems to have its own unique weather , it's been raining solid for the last six days and the roads have just been impassible last night inc the main dual carriageway out of Aberdeen .
So we wake up this morning to the same floods but now it's snowed pretty heavy so leaving Aberdeen or even the house today ain't going to happen .

You never know I might end up just being greedy and buying the RS for family duties and getting a V8 mustang next year , after all it's only two yrs till my 40th so due a impulse midlife purchase

This sums up why the average joe who isn't a hardcore mustang nut, or has some pasion for mustangs would get one. Add ontop of that 'Its a mustang' and 'if you like the car, brand etc youll like it' and you kind of have the best argument as to get one.... Along with how much money you actually "save" comparativley of cars at the same speed level.

As for the RS, i'd been told by my dealer that quite a few EB mustang owners transfered to an RS, i dabbled in the idea for all of 5seconds, and then, like you said, realised, end of the day it's a focus, it might have swanky painted brakes and a body kit with a stupidly powerful engine, but it'll blend in too much (also the spec i'd want for the focus is more than my mustang spec...)

In days gone by the 'it's just a focus' thing was never a problem (back when they made machines like the Escort Coworth or Sierra Cosworth, etc) because the designs were so outlandish that even none car people looked and knew they were something special.

I don't think that is true of the new RS, the mk2 RS was at least bright green and 3 door and just looked bonkers next to a normal focus.

Personally I can't imagine walking into a Ford dealer, seeing the FRS and the Mustang next to each other, and walking out with anything other than a Mustang order.

Yep, fully agree, not sure what the MPG or road tax on the RS is, but assume it's much like the EB. for a 33k spec I looked at on the RS, i'd sooner buy a GT. 33k for info is the same value of My Mustang (near 31k, my wrap 2k), which i'd way rather have than an RS

*And to clarify, I haven't bought a GT because of how much more the insurance is, road tax etc - 21 and a 5L v8 don't bode well.

How much was the insurance? When I was 21 I bought myself a Jag 4.0 XJ V8 (X308) and back then I was paying nearly 1500 quid a year (10 years ago)

Out of curiosity, what wrap you putting on it? I understand if you'd prefer not to answer that question at this point in time

A Vinyl wrap, can't tell you the colour, and even if i did, it's one of a kind because i've had that colour 'made' for the car (so no other wraps unless they colour match mine, will be the same).
Bearing in mind i'm getting a RR EB, i'll have to do 'shuts and returns' on the car as well, so there's no more red showing (Other than the bits 'unwrappable' in the engine bay.
WaxDaddy, Insurance is around 700quid, EB, 1-2yrs NCD (In the middle cuz of when the car will fall for arrival), Driving since Sep 2013 (Only learnt when i needed to for work), 2 cars previous, 1 crash in last 5 years (Small knock, low value), ÂŁ300 excess, 2 additional drivers (1 with a crash 4 years ago and 1 with a SPF30 for speeding). Additional drivers wont be driving it.
I might be able to get it 'down' by telling insurers that my car is actually going to have a tracker fitter and that my house has security on it.
It's cheaper because I live in the middle of nowhere, on a private road with no through road and no access to it without being 'let in' or knowing the passcode, and my annual mileage is like 3.5-5k region.

GT was coming up at 3,305 cheapest.
I've only done Compare the Market, when I get my build date i'll start fiending around other places for different quotes and pitching brokers against one another.

On topic

I have had an RS4 and RS5 from Audi

Gret cars with the Quattro but not a Mustang.

My head buys an RS5 (and it did) My heart buys a mustang, yes it is a lesser car but my god that rumble is all I need to remind me why I bought the Mustang! The Audi's are amazing cars but very very clinical (dare I say it German) where you don't feel part of the driving experience, the Mustang makes you feel like you are the center of the whole driving dynamic etc...

Historically I have had a 2006 (S197) V6 Mustang and a 2007 (S197) Shelby GT 500 Mustang and I had to have the new S550 one :D

Of all the Mustangs the S550 handles so much better than the old S197, it really is a revelation to behold :D

So my advice as an ex-RS4/5 owner, get the Mustang and enjoy it

To me mpg really isn't a issue but what's more important is that we have a car than can be used all the time irrespective of the weather and that my two year old can comfortably be lifted in and out and this is where the RS wins hands down .

I don't understand people's problem with the focus especially coming out with comments like it's just a focus, would you say the same with say a Proper old school RS500 cause after all it's only a Sierra . To me this kind of comment means sweet fook all and amounts to nothing as all cars do have a base model they are built from.

Anyway as it stands the now the order for the RS will be on hold till I see it next month as its doing the power tour , but time will tell because after all it's only a focus

 This made me laugh!

Cars are brought for the driver, it's exactly how you want to drive it and if it is useful for you. End of the day it is your money and your choice, 4 doors would probably help your child situation.

As for the driving, many users have stated that winter tyres and being gentle on the throttle works for the GT (Otherwise get an EB ;)).

But as i'd said, your money, you need the car for your needs...

There's always the option of buying an 'R-Reg' Focus, then having the Mustang as your play toy ;)
