I wish you were my dealer, if only you weren't 500 miles away.
Thanks Norn, sorry your not local.
I have just contacted all my Mustangs customers and updated them. This is normal service that a dealer should give. News about nothing is still better than no news.

Wish my dealer did this, Manager of New cars for the dealership, granted probably has a lot on his plate, but come on, most of us fanatics have given the easiest 'sale' to a salesman of their life (Literally walking in and telling them we wanted it), least we could get back is updates, even if the update was a 'Hey, Sorry there's no update as of yet' is better than being left in the dark.

That being said i've totally given up with my salesman and i'm only dealing direct with Karen whom is much better with the customer service element.

Same, mine is the Sales Manager. He even messaged me looking for a bigger deposit and then never replied again

Fortunately mine took a ÂŁ1,000 refundable deposit (Non-refundable once built) hasn't spoke to me since without prompt, a receptionist messaged me saying they were hoping my car would be built before the end of 2015, however the Nov11 build date got pushed back so now expected early jan but waiting on Karen to confirm, as lets be honest, our sales people will just ask her as they're majority pretty clueless...

If the commission ford dealers earned was substantial, i'd happily give it to the salesman I saw when i went to go and look at the cars and he spent an hour or so and was really enthusiastic. Seems like he would have had the potential to be a more informative salesperson.

I know for a fact that my dealership gets a 2 week or monthly update on all mustangs ordered in a batch email, however, whether or not Phil (sales manager #NameDrop) actually does anything with this I personally dont know.

I am pleased to advise that we will be establishing a help desk to help customers find the nearest unsold Mustang of their choice going forwards.
The intention is to match customers to unsold cars in dealer stock or that are "in transit"

This will ensure that cars in dealer stock will always be "factory fresh" and we can shorten delivery times to the shortest possible

More details including the dedicated email address very shortly

If I have placed an order but cant stand the wait any longer is this an option if the exact same spec is available?

This is excellent news for customers to supply them with 'factory fresh' cars and reduce the waiting time for people.

Brilliant idea, can't wait to see the update on this! And how nice to get a update on a non-working day!

Yes although I'd assume that customers who ordered earlier should get priority.

This is a great idea Andy. Looking forward to see it working.

I'm afraid my cynical view, and reading Andy's actual words, suggests this is not being done for us who are currently waiting. It's for orders 'going forwards'. i.e. in future if someone wants to order a Mustang they can enquire of the database who has one, or one on the way, in the spec they want and buy it from them (like in the States). Same as you can now for available unsold or stock cars, or nearly new cars come to that. It avoids one dealer having odd specs sat in a field waiting for a customer to walk into that dealer by matching orders to availability; keeping stock 'factory fresh' is good for overheads. I'd love to be proved wrong but I can't see my dealer playing along with me finding a car that was ordered by Benfields that matches my spec and getting them to agree to divert that order to him. Maybe Ford can impose an instruction to trade, at trade, between the dealers. Maybe it will work for the dealers that are owned by Ford. But then they would have some sort of 'priority' which Andy said wasn't the case. Not so simple.

Unsold showroom stock cars are regularly moved between dealerships. My last two cars were bought by me from local dealers but were then sourced from elsewhere & transported to my dealer so I could buy it - this saves it having to be a factory order. I did it all the time for customers when I was in the motor trade. Only difference here seems to be unsold cars either not yet built or on their way over to the UK that can be switched to another dealer - sounds like a great idea & agree that customers that have waited the longest should get the opportunity to see if they want to swap their order for another car. Im hoping when I get my update on Monday, that mine will be built in January so I may see it earlier than expected but will not hold my breath!

Sounds like ford are trying to bring things along but would love for Andy go clarify the process of who can get transferred to stock cars etc. My car due for build in Feb so not too far away now but would be gutted if a same spec car went to someone who just walked in and i wasn't offered the chance to swap to it for early delivery. That said I am sure some people wouldn't swap as they may have other circumstances to get to their delivery date etc.
