as long as everything checks out, i'm fine buying used. I've always bought used but know what to look for. Sure, there are some things that you just have to accept but for the most part you can tell what kind of person was driving the car before you if you know what to look for. I still have a warranty anyway so I'm not worried.
For a commuter car, I trust no one, not even Grandma. A 200,000-ish mile venture is too important to compromise that.

For my truck and fun car, I do look at used, and judge the f*ck out of the person selling it as much as the vehicle itself. Any red flag is a no-sale. So far, I'm batting a thousand. After owning over 25 cars, the only utter pile of crap (79 RX7--fun, but unreliable as hell) was given to me for free, and it wasn't worth the price. Second place, a 70K mile 73 Dodge Charger 400, was my first car--it was owned by an 80-year old, and it was very well cared for, but the build quality was utter crap. Everything else has been stellar, but it's only because I'm a prick when it comes to scrutinizing a used car, or I buy new.

I hear ya! I've been lucky in all my past cars so far. I generally don't keep them more then 2-3 years so that may contribute to my success

Yep, nothing I'd miss in a commuter car. If I were buying the Mustang for my "fun" car, I'd be all over a GT Premium PP.
Depends on what you're looking for. This is my only car -- I use it to commute; I use it to move large items (fit a seven foot Christmas tree in the trunk a couple weeks back); I used it on a 6000 mile cross-country road trip a few months back; I use it to get groceries. I've got almost 19,000 miles on it in exactly one year of ownership (one year last Sunday). It drove me through the deserts of the Southwest when it was 115 degrees outside; it drove me through snowstorms in the mountains of Pennsylvania (on snow tires); it drives me through potholed streets of New York City. I got it stuck in a sand dune in the Hamptons over the summer and had to get fifteen people to drag it out. I drive my 92 year old Grandmother around in it and have to fit her walker in the trunk. I drive my 31 year old girlfriend around in it and she talks about how awesome the pony projector lights are. Most of all I drive myself around in it, and it's a great place for me to spend time with me.

In one year, I've had almost 700 hours of seat time in it (it's cool that there's a timer in the trip computer so I can keep track of that). For every single one of those hours, I've been comfortable, I've been coddled, and I've been happy to be behind the wheel. Whether it's crawling over the wooden planks of Santa Monica pier, gliding across the ancient steel trusses of the Brooklyn Bridge, climbing the side of a snow-covered mountain in a blizzard in the Poconos, or laying rubber out of a red light at 3:00 a.m. on a deserted road in New Jersey, I've had nothing but great times behind the wheel of my Mustang. And when I'm stuck in traffic on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway that takes me two hours to go a half-mile, or when I flew across the country, going from Denver to Brooklyn in two days, I'm very happy that the car has the creature comforts necessary to make me feel at home no matter where I am.

these two should be available on all trim levels given they are compelling safety features. But generally speaking, all car makers trap them behind premium trim.
I don't think "compelling" is apt for either. Just another layer of protection for inattentive drivers. Opinion...

Yes, exactly--it's personal preference. Aside from leather and heated/cooled seats, nothing there would improve my two hours on the road, so the cost is impossible to justify (for me). If those were standalone options, rather than requiring me to "upgrade" the engine and purchase a package of non-essentials, I'd likely consider it. However, the cloth seats are very comfortable, and have better lateral grip, so I'm still quite happy.

One thing I will say -- this is the first car I've ever had with Navigation built in, and I can never imagine going back. I use it constantly, every time I get in the car, and it's so much more convenient than having to use a phone like I had been doing for the past however many years since cell phones started having navigation on them.

Agree completely on built-in nav being great, but use my phone's nav function so seldom that I never considered for this purchase. I had an excellent nav system in my former Audi Q7 4.2, which I used exactly twice! Now, that Q7 was like having home on the road--very nicely appointed and opulently equipped, but the car was such overkill for someone like me, and I only leased it to appease my (now ex) wife. Then the economy tanked, and now she's stuck with a relatively pretty 24-year old Benz that leaks oil like a sieve, and a house that's crumbling.

Sh*t, I drifted off topic... Sorry. Yeah, you make a good point for nav.

Goes back to the point made earlier: had Ford decided to offer the premium trim and performance pack on the V6, certainly a sizeable chunk of EB and even some GT sales would've gone to that engine.

Nothing wrong with any package/engine choice. I bought base GT because I don't really care for leather and wanted cloth recaro seats. My choice. My wife even considered getting one when it was time for her car but ultimately she realized with my 5 year old it didn't make sense to have 2 Mustangs, and hauling my son everyday in a coupe didn't exactly excite her lol.

We drove both the ecoboost and the v6 and both great in their own ways.

I don't think you can make a wrong choice with the new Mustang in any variety.

Wish I would of listened to my own advice lol. I paid 32k for my base Eco with few options. I can saying that buying a new car is officially off my bucket list though.
You can't take it with you. If it fills your needs, AND that's what you wanted, you got it made. Just drive it and grin!

That is all...

I have 0 regrets buying my 4 banger, buying a new car was on my bucket list. Since this car won't be worth anything in the future, I'll just buy a new car when that time comes and turn this car into a track car

I'm pretty old school, so not having NAV doesn't affect me. I map out my routes before I leave the house. Plus I really like the sleek look of the roof w/o the little bump.

I would like Nav, and the bigger screen the better, but I currently make use of a small GPS and a cell phone with google maps traffic / waze
