It's not a couple thousand dollars- its more like 8 or 9 V6 to V8 base to base. Plus, some of the younger guys simply can't afford the insurance on the GT. When I owned a Suzuki dealership, a 20 yr old guy would pay as much per month for insurance as his bike payment was on a GSXR.
Yeah.. I ran the numbers on a new GT at the dealer.. the difference from what I'm paying now would of been $50 more per month.. not terrible.

However.. after checking with several insurance companies, the monthly premium was more than the car note itself..

So yeah.. F that. My insurance on the EBM is literally less than half of the lowest quote I got for the GT.

This is turning to a GT vs EB now lol
Nah, I could care less what others buy. None of my business. I'm just stating my opinion. As for insurance, yeah, I can totally see that being a huge deciding factor. I'm 30 with a clean driving record and pay 700 every 6 months for two cars with full coverage. I went from a sedan to a GT and my premium went up like 12 bucks a month lol.

I can't talk insurance bc everyone will vary there. You can always buy slightly used like I did and the gap is no where near 8-9 grand. I paid 32k and it had 500 miles on it. check this out:
not apples to apple. You spec'd out EB with leather, NAV, etc.

v6 MSRP is $24 (USD). With some aggressive shopping and a bit of luck, maybe 21-22. Factor in cheaper gas, cheaper insurance, and no temptation to mod, and you get a cheap 300 HP. Or rather 3500 / 300 = 11.6 lbs per HP. Naturally aspirated. Anything out there top this for the price? Available in manual transmission too.

Like I said, I could have bought a V6 auto, 051A for 20K during the Labor Day sale. That's 10K+ difference. I bought an EB auto for 24K. Still at least 6K difference, more like 7. The difference might actually be more in Canada where the OP lives.

F150 in XL, V6, Auto, short-bed might be close. But there isn't many of them on dealer lots, so you almost certain won't get a good deal. The market is moving to crew cabs, and those aren't cheap.

in XL trim, the truck will lack cruise control and backup camera, and it comes with steel wheels and black grill / bumpers. That might work if you found a truck in red / black paint. Unfortunately they mostly come in white paint, for the benefit of construction workers.

Trucks are top heavy with truck suspensions, so you can't really goof around with them like you can a Mustang. Or you shouldn't anyway.

But it is a truck with a 6.5 foot bed

For 21,000, there is no other car I would have gotten than a V6 Mustang. For such a low price you are getting 300hp and great styling. Shame there is no premium trim but hey, for a very basic cheap car…would you rather drive a Sentra, or a V6 Mustang?
Sure it is not a V8 but a GT may not fit into everyone’s budget, some people pay rent, some people driver further, some people don’t make as much. And 300 horses is still 300 horses. You’re already faster than most cars on the road and even older V8s.

I’ve had my V6 for almost a year now and for a little bit I did suffer from buyer’s remorse….should I have gotten a V8?, Should I have waited? But that is way past me now and I freakin love my car, sure I get a bit jealous when a GT pulls up next to me and I hear their soundtrack but I cannot justify the means to spend 10k more…10k more is still a significant increase to monthly payments, as well as gas and insurance. When I test drove a GT I was truly impressed, I loved the acceleration and sound but 31k is still way more than 21k. When I test drove the V6 I was surprised, it wasn’t as slow as I heard it was, I drove the Manual Transmission and it felt great, shifting a bit clunky but the feel of the car was perfect. The sound wasn’t that bad either, the cabin did have a nice little rumble especially in the cold.

Looking to get a Roush CAI and Flowmaster Outlaws, based on the videos I’ve seen, it adds a nice deep tone and rumble.

If you’re going to be worried about what other people say about you having a V6 Mustang…don’t get it. People will insult your car, but many will compliment it as well. Sad that people still believe that a Mustang HAS TO HAVE A V8… they don’t realize the V6 has been around ever since the beginning and was an integral part of the Mustang success in America. Good day.
