... How about visibility gets factored in, for once? Is that too much to ask? The Camaro basically has a mail slot for visibility, FFS.

addendum: from my experience car shopping, the challenger isn't that much better. Huge C pillars, and large huge sewn-in / non-adjustable rear headrests that block the rear window. Charger is somewhat better, but it cannot be had in manual transmission.

I had an order in for a 2016 Camaro and my first car was a 68 Camaro (no not new, I'm not that old), when I found that it's really the same visibility issue as the 5th Gen Camaro I canceled it. Now that I have been looking so much at the Mustang's I must say it's a much better looking car, that you can see out of.

The visibility out of the mustang is pretty damn good IMO. I have been driving a super crew for years and I can see everything out of it and the Mustangs not far off just lower to the ground. Way better than I expected.

Visibility out of the Stang is fantastic.. this is my first 2 door car, prior had a 4 door econobox corolla and a older ML, I had zero issues with visibility stepping into the S550. The S197 however I did not like.. the dash and hood seem too high, so does the seating position.

My only issue so far is judging the width of this thing.. it is sooo wide Lol.

I test drove a used S197 and I thought the visibility was good as well. That one had rear head restraints that folded.

I prefer cars wide and low to the ground. Less likely to roll it at 90mph. Not that I would ever go that fast. :headbonk:

Yeah the visibility in the s197 isn't bad, I just don't like the feel.. I dunno everything felt high in that car.. the seat felt like it needs to be at least an inch lower, along with the dash and the hood.. I also sat in a s197 with an aftermarket hood, my goodness was that a terrible view from inside Lol.

I originally had the idea to buy a used S197, but prices for used S197 weren't all that competitive, relative to a new S550. And I felt like the S550 was wider and lower and so I was sold.

I originally planned to get a 2010 3v V8.. then I decided the 13' V6 looked better and had about the same amount of performance.. then I learned of the driveshaft issues among other things and said F that so I decided to get a used 14' GT once the s550 released. Well the s550 came out and it was a night and day difference and basically there was no way I could pick a s197 over an s550 even if it wasn't a 5.0

As much as I love that V8, the sound, the power etc.. I could not take that s197 over an s550 Lol.

I know, LOL! The back seats aren't good in either of them, but the reviews so far have said that the ones in the Camaro are significantly worse. I mainly just wanted to post that picture because I thought it was hilarious.

you pretty much won't want to sit in the back of any sports car. As a people mover, its the wrong tool for the job.

I find it amusing that Chevy put a huge amount of engineering effort into a first class drive train, but if you can't see out of it, what good is it? Roads are more congested than ever, so visibility should be increasing, not decreasing, particularly in high performance cars.

That's the main reason that I've never been interested in a Camaro. I've driven/ridden in a few fifth gens for short stints, and I feel absolutely claustrophobic in them. I'm only 5'8 too! If they didn't improve that aspect, I'm immediately turned off to the sixth gen.

I've always been able to see out of Mustangs comfortably, including the 2015 GT I test drove. That's why I've got my order in on a 2017 GT350. Raw performance in stock form means very little to someone who's not interested in quoting magazine times. The GT350 is far more interesting to me than anything that GM has done, and I think it will be the most fun to drive.

Yes... I haven't driven a 6th gen. Camaro, but I would surmise that for "regular" driving the visibility would be a non-issue.

But driving in stop and go rush hour traffic on the 405 would be nerve shredding.

I think that GM could have improved the visibility without taking away any aggressivenes of the styling. But they said they listened to current 5th gen. owners who said not to change it. Maybe they should have listened to the people who wanted to buy one, but changed their minds because of the visibility issue.

I bought a stang over a camaro mostly for the visibility. Huge deal breaker.
I can see great out of the Mustang, cept I need to get better judging how big the hood is lol
