I was looking into the SW catback with Xpipe and ran across this guy who told me the Stainless Works catback drones horribly bad, so bad that he removed from his car. If anyone who owns this system could chime in that would be great(catbacks only)

Also looking for information on which catback is louder, the SW xpipe or hpipe?

No drone that i've ever heard out of any stainless works system.

There's a reason they're one of the most popular brands atm, however, if you did the full SW system (headers as well) it would sound much better imo

Imo it doesn't drone, but it is loud, so you will hear it while on the freeway cruising.

I had one. It did not drone with the factory manifolds and cats. Once I did my Mak cat delete pipes it was way loud and had some minor drone. The drone wasn't that bad but the volume was too much for me unless I was babying the car around. I switched to a MBRP street and have been very happy with it. I don't know if the drone would have been better with long tubes or worse. I would say your safe if you stick with the stock manifolds and cats for sure. It sounded perfect that way IMO.

It doesn't drone if you leave all four mufflers in it. The stainless works system is restrictive as I lost HP after swapping it with my stock cat back. I cut out the mid mufflers and had 3" pipe welded in and I picked up 1.5mph peak and 1.2 average mph.

I have the SW catback 3 inch H pipe on an auto GT with 3:55 gearing and it drones horribly at 52 ~ 65mph. It sounds terrific outside the car, kinda has the old school muscle sound to it but not extremely loud. however if i had it to do over again considering the price is about the same i would go Borla S or atak. i had the borla S on my 13gt manual and it sounded great and didnt drone at any speed in any gear. im hoping to do headers eventually and im gambling on them changes the dynamics of the system and helping with the drone.

Screw the people who say it doesn't drone, so tired of hearing people say it doesn't. It DOES drone. Your definition of drone is my definition of drone, people try and say drone is some sort of fairy bull shit and that its just the engine making noise under load. That's crap, it drones, so bad in fact i sold mine.

How did the sound change when you changed out the mid mufflers to 3" pipe?

1st chill out mr my opinion is right,
2nd to me drone is one long monotone note while cruising, not that you can hear it while cruising. Mine has a growl to it not one long tooooooooooooooone. I didn't emphasize "tone" to be an ass but to try and describe what drone sounds like to me. Say the word like I have it spelled in a deep voice. To me that's drone. SW CB has like a pulse to the exhaust note even while cruising, to me that's just a loud exhaust.
But please continue with how other people's opinions are wrong and yours is right.

Sound is about 30-40% louder and sounds more aggressive now. I like it.

What was your mod list when you had issues with your Sw? stock headers or LT? X or H pipe? did you have the sound tube still installed? did your SW exhaust have 2.5" or 3" cores
if your not going to contribute something worth while, keep your comments to yourself.

There is a difference between loud and drone. The design of the SW does have the exhaust a little on the louder side inside the cabin but I wouldn't say its drone.

The catback does not drone. As several others have mentioned you can hear the exhaust at cruise with a slight load on the motor but it does not drone. Coming from a pushrod 5.0 with an H pipe and flowmasters I know what drone is, and what you hear from the SW is not drone.

Furthermore, what you can hear is easily offset by the radio at like 6-7 or easily ignored via normal volume conversation. It's not distracting or annoying at all IMO.
