These increase NVH?

none - little - moderate - severe

please advise
Personally, on my own car - I did not notice any. So none.

On our stock PP car that we perform NVH testing with, there was a "little" increase - but so minor, that I was the only ear here at our operation that could pick up on it.

On our road course car, we have ALL of the "solid" more race oriented components, and the only NVH we have in that is driveline clunk (loud) and gear whine on the highway over 55mph, then it goes away at 75-77mph. That said, the gear whine is very minimal when we put OEM diff bushings back in it a while back, for some additional testing.

The only item that drastically increases NVH is going to be differential mounted components. Diff inserts, bushings, lockouts etc.

Kelly maybe you can help me, I have your delrin cradle bushing, poly diff bushings, vert links and toe rods, car is sitting on eibach sportlines with stock shocks. I've had it aligned twice to the specs you gave me. Car drives straight with hands off the wheel but as soon as you push down the gas pedal it pulls left, pretty hard depending on speed. Even durning normal driving, when I bring up the rpms it will pull left, then clutch in and it darts right. Car is not safe and feels like its not even connected to anything. All bolts are towqued and loc-tight was used, been under there a few times to recheck everything.

I guess my question is will these bearings help with that? or is something totally f'ed on this car? I've never had a vehicle drive like this, takes all the fun out of it not to mention it just looks like its about to dart across 4 lanes of traffic with just squeezing the accelerator pedal. HELP ME PLEASE!! I don't want to sell this car but it this cant be fixed it's going bye bye.
..I think between that and the stock shocks it's just not a happy combo.



can someone please help me understand why, with the sportline kit, its "suggested" or even "required" to buy aftermarket shocks? ive not been able to find this info anywhere, and have heard both sides - you DONT need new shocks, and you DO need new shocks..

Sure you're not breaking loose? Those Pirellis on the PP are completely silent when you lose traction. I was breaking them loose a lot more than I actually thought I was. Which, is probably why they only lasted 5k miles.... lol
i was pretty surprised how quiet i broke loose accelerating onto the highway the first couple times it happened.

How aggressive will the car be by adding the lower control arm bearings you list here along with your toe links, vertical links and the ford performance cradle and diff aluminum bushing set? Just a weekend warrior street and strip/road race car.

I put red locktite when I did my FFRP toe link bearings then watched every ounce get pushed out when the bearing was pressed in lol. I would imagine it is not needed.

From the mods you listed - pretty damn aggressive.

If you are concerned about NVH, I suggest you do something like this:

BK055
TCA045
BK048
TR005

Leave the diff alone if NVH is a concern.

If NVH is not a concern, get our BK050 Billet Diff Bushings and be done!

You do not need Red Loc-Tite.

Keep in mind, our system is a press fit and utilizes a very HD locking ring to ensure the housing stays put.

You are going to really like the BK055. :cheers:

Might have to, tell me what you think about the pictures below. The vibrations in the IRS (diff area) were higher with the braces attached. I wasn't sure at first, but concluded the contact areas weren't solid enough and the braces themselves were actually vibrating.

One question, can I use the CB005 with solid IRS bushings? Was thinking that would be a better support than the stock piece.

My honest opinion / facts?

Braces don't do much of anything when you improve the cradle mounting points.

When you install our BK048 Delrin pieces....the only movement in the cradle is simply cradle deflection (the cradle "flexing") under loads. The braces above, and any other braces available are not going to control that deflection. Proof is in the pudding above.

You cannot use our CB005 front braces with a solid bushing kit without modding it. However, if someone was to order our CB005 Kit through me, I can make it where it works with a solid bushing....but you would have to buy the CB005 Kit.....and at that point, the price really isn't worth the effort.

I have spoken with Ford/FRPP engineers about the OEM "Braces" or support brackets, sheer plates, etc etc etc. They were not, at the time, really thinking of them as an actual brace to control cradle movement. Nor did they see any reason to update/upgrade them when testing their solid billet bushing kits out.

I still do not understand what those braces above really do, in all honesty.

It is very subjective. Feedback is all over the place.

Yes, they do increase NVH....but not as bad as a solid style bushing.

On that note, please try and call me tomorrow to discuss the installation of those BK054 pieces.

Just a heads up ladies and gents, these will be going up in price Q1 next year.

I highly suggest getting these at the current price level, as they are the best design for the money, available.

Once the price rises, we are going to introduce our "econo" version with lesser design features to match the market's offerings (other than our BK055) at around the $165 - $170 price point.

Thanks to all of you who have chosen these pieces for your S550's thus far!

I didn't see this answered yet.

Stiffer springs generally need firmer damping on rebound to keep the spring from making the suspension "overshoot" too far (can give a 'floaty-feeling' ride) or too fast (can accelerate adverse fluid effects inside the shock/strut, think lifespan here).

When you do run firmer springs without changing out the OE shocks and struts, some aspects of ride quality can improve, but tire grip will take a hit. With as few numbers as I can get away with using, ride quality (by one measure) tends to be optimum when shock damping is around 15% (give or take a few %) of something called 'critical damping'. Best performance happens out more toward 50%, again give/take a bit. Critical damping itself is tied to the spring rate, where the spring does not overshoot at all when recovering from a bump or similar disturbance, with a 300 lb/in spring obviously needing more damping than a 200 lb/in spring would need in the same car.


Be aware that ABS and AdvanceTrak (at least) were calibrated based on certain assumptions regarding suspension condition/behavior and tire grip, and you do want to maintain at least comparable capabilities. The repair industry is finally being made aware of this, perhaps mainly as a potential revenue stream. But there is solid technical reasoning behind it.
