My track pack car will be here next month (fingers crossed) so I'm thinking of upgrading the stereo as one of my first mods. I haven't delved in to audio in ten years so I'm kind of out of touch. What options are out there for the new Mustangs?

Crutchfield is usually the place I start since they have a wide selection that can be filtered by what fits your car, but they don't have any info on the new mustangs. Until they get up to speed, you may be taking it to a local install shop to have them check it out. If you're looking to add an amp and a sub, anybody can make that happen, but replacing factory speakers will take a little poking around to confirm what fits. Replacing the head unit might wind up being a headache. Would probably need a custom dash insert fabricated and there's the possibility of losing some functionality, although I'm not sure how much of that runs only through the track pack's head unit.

Yea, would love to replace the base head unit but that looks to be a PITA. I think I would just have to settle for amp, sub, and direct speaker replacements. I've had great experience with my previous Alpine PDX amp, which was certified putting out 700+ RMS watts out of the rated 600. Ill also be looking into the JL stealthbox again. It provided enough bass for me last time around, and it preserves your trunk space. If that matters to you, take a look into it. Its pricey though. Both units lasted 5 years of daily use, so I'm a fan of them.

I replaced the stock sub with a JL Audio sub and amp and the sound improved tremendously. I would love to do more, but this makes me plenty happy for now. I did not have to sacrifice trunk space.

JL Audio 12TW3 Sub
JL Audio HD 750/1 amp
AudioControl LC2I 2-Channel Line Out Converter and Sub Control

If you want to retain SYNC and the Steering wheel button control then at the moment you are kind of dead in the water. The best that you can do for now is to upgrade the speakers and amps.

I looked at Crutchfield briefly this morning and when I searched Ford vehicles only the Focus came up. Strange.

depends how far you want to go. Just amp, or amp + DSP?

I will check this out later. Thank you.

I want to replace all of it. I figure since it's not a Mach system it'll be a breeze to work with. LOL

It already has a great sound system. Just press the little red button! ;) :D

I suspect this will be sufficient for quite a while. :)

This is utilizing the factory head unit? I never considered doing that.

There is no SYNC in the track pack, though, right?

The track pack and the Base model have SYNC the Tech Pack has SYNC 3

I'm surprised they put outdated tech in this car, Sync 3 has been getting a lot of positive reviews. I am hoping that Ford will allow us to upgrade to SYNC 3 in the future

How many speakers does the Track Pack car have? Not to get off track but I'd actually think of ditching some of them on my weight savings adventure.
