What's the process for build date estimation etc?

Ordered mine June 2015, so not expecting it for a while, just wondering how/when Ford contacted you to tell you expected build & ship dates?

First post, sorry if it's covered elsewhere

Firstly welcome to the forum, this topic has been covered quite a bit on the forum so far and it is also supposedly changing a lot, but I will give the most up to date version (as I understand it).

1. So after ordering the car you should at some point recieve an email from Ford saying, Congratulations for your order, this should have a personalised picture of your Mustang.

2. You will recieve an NSC code from your dealer, which basically means that the car has been assigned to be built.

3. You will recieve a VIN number, you can then use this to
- Find the Window Sticker
- Track the progress of the car in etis

4. Your best point of contact at this stage is Deysha or Nick from Ford Service, they will give you more up to date information on the progress of your car.

5. Your build will start then the car will be sent to the upfitters about a week or two after build.

6. After the upfitters the car will make its way to Baltimore via train

7. Your car will wait at the docks until it has been assigned onto a ship

8. You can check the ship tracking on WWL's shipping website.

9. The car will be loaded on the ship and you should recieve an email from Ford saying that your car is on the ship.

10. The ship will arrive in Melbourne (probably after some delays)

11. Don't know what will happen to the cars after Melbourne.

Timeframes!

Order to stock code: The time frame for this is unknown

Stock code to VIN: 2-4 weeks

Vin to Build: 2:4 weeks

Build to Delivery - We have been told that from your build date you will need to wait 3 months until your car is delivered.

This is not exact by any means but that is the wait that you have ahead of you, if any of the other members don't really agree with my timeframes let me know.

I wonder how many AUS and NZ Mustangs there are currently at the Port. I'm guessing it's quite a lot more than the 86 booked on the Fidelio.

Hopefully more cars get booked and loaded on the Fidelio before it leaves.

No problem mate, there is days worth of great information to read on this forum, we also do our share of complaining as well as you will probably read, most of us just wanted the cars that we ordered months and even years ago.

well things are about to get interesting in Baltimore
The Fidelio is steaming up Chesapeake Bay and there are only the same 46 odd cars for OZ and 40 for NZ booked that have been there all week
Somebody may have to do some overtime
Ive been watching the shipping site too.
I have noticed that the cars are generally booked on the ship about 5-10 days before the sail date.

If this is correct - then I don't think any more cars will be added to this ship.
But I hope I am wrong.

when you say 86 - do you mean cars for Australia as well as the current world champions....

It looks to me like 40 for the champions and about 46 for the runners-up
If this is correct then combined with the Parsifal this is well down on what ford NZ & Oz have been expecting

There definitely aren't many booked on the Fidelio, still only showing 46 and its due to depart tomorrow...

I wonder whether there is likely to be any last minute increase to that number?

I know a couple of cars from this group are at Baltimore (mine included), but are no shows on the booking list.

Overnight my vin has popped up on the shipping track and trace.:):)
Vessel Aniara, ETD Baltimore 14 Nov ETA Melbourne 20 December.
If I am reading it right there are 104 cars on this booking.

Ship is going via Brisbane and Port Kembla on the voyage details, mine is a Sydney order but shows Melbourne as the port of discharge. I guess they may all be getting checked in Melbourne before being sent to the dealers as some have indicated already.

Seeing it booked onto the ship has made the whole thing a lot more real now, even though the dates may change there is movement.

Thanks Gnome - you prompted me to check and I'm there too!
Your not wrong about the excitement - can't believe its actually coming.

No doubt there will more delays but I'm away OS over the Christmas break so not really expecting to collect it until mid Jan anyway.

Looking forward to tracking its progress ......:D

The Parsifal is now showing as being through the Panama Canal and into the Pacific. This suprises me as there are 60 vessels moored at each end waiting to get in. I think there is an auction system to jump the queue. So maybe the first week Dec ETA is realistic.
