I ordered the GT350 steering wheel from Ford last Wednesday and it is supposed to be at my dealer this Thursday. That doesn't sound like much of a backorder problem.

I wonder if the number of steering wheel turns, lock to lock, on a Mustang GT are the same as on the GT350. Just wondering - if there is much of a difference, would the "D" shaped 350 steering wheel be less ergonomically friendly than the round stock steering wheel. I don't see how it could make much of a difference, but there seems to be obvious reasons that steering wheels are circular, except for a few special mutants.

That's what the dealer I purchased from said. They called my girlfriend a couple days later saying that the steering wheels are on backorder and should be in towards the end of the year. Your dealer may have found a warehouse that had it in stock though.

Your dealership is lying to you....unless they are ordering it from another dealership, which I sincerely doubt a dealer will sell to another at C10 when they could sell at List ALL DAY to OTCCs

I didn't go through my dealer, but I did have to indicate the dealer that I wanted the part shipped to. I went directly to fordparts.com to place my order, had to register online, and then placed an order for one, and provided credit card information to make the purchase of $242.00 before tax. I printed off the order summary (and this was actually on 10/29, in the morning). Then at about 11:00 pm that night I got an email from ford that said,"YOUR ORDER IS COMPLETE. Your FordParts.com order has been completed and will be ready for pick up from 'Vandalay Ford Lincoln' on 11/5/2015 at 1:00 pm."
If the rug ends up getting yanked out from under me, it will leave a big scar, because Ford has really got me amped up in anticipation of an early Christmas present!

I just checked out some pictures, and can someone help me out with a detail?

I've been holding out for a GT350R wheel to show up, because I wanted this:

Leather upper and lower, white stripe across the top.

Images I'm seeing of the GT350R interiors are more like this:

Leather bottom, no leather top, red stitching and stripe.

Now, nevermind the color of the stitching and stripe, what I was holding out for was the leather top on the steering wheel.

Am I to understand that this is no longer part of the GT350R wheel?

If that's the case, I might as well get a normal GT350 wheel, since I like the all black look more anyway.

This would be a major game changer for me, so I'm asking for some help on this, if you can, please enlighten me, I am from Europe so I'd like to pay for shipping as few times as possible ;)

Oh, i just caved, redline is having a pretty decent sale right now:

- shift boot
- E-brake boot
- Console pad
- Door inserts

All in Alcantra w/ red double stitching in the OEM patterns. Should go great with the leather Recaro covers and GT350 wheel I scored. Now, I need to find a big roll of dynamat.

Your first image is of the GT350R wheel that was made for the "one-off" Liquid Blue promotional car that Ford Performance used when they first debuted the GT350R. The silver stitching and silver 12 o'clock stripe was exclusive to that car ONLY.

Your bottom image is of the standard wheel that will be in every production GT350R. The red stitching and red 12 o'clock stripe is exclusive to the production GT350R only.

And the GT350 gets the standard flat bottom wheel that you see people on the forum picking up. This has contrast stitching but a black 12 o'clock stripe.

Hope this clears things up for you.

In that case, since the production GT350R doesn't have the additional leather at the top of the wheel, I might as well just get a GT350 wheel instead. Thanks for clearing things up for me!! I was just holding out for that extra little bit of leather at the top of the wheel, nothing else ;)

Now, to get one!
