I am really close to pulling the trigger on the stainless works 3' catback for my 15 GT. I have been listening to sound clips of the system with both the H pipe and X pipe and love the sound of both but am leaning toward the h pipe setup. Here is my only concern. Some people say to stay away from chambered mufflers (which the SW has) because they are restrictive. I want better/deeper sound but in no way do I want to lose ANY HP or torque. I don't care if I don't really gain much, I just don't want to lose. The system I am looking at is 3' but is the one that has 2.5' cores in the mufflers. Am I right in thinking that with most of the system being 3' and the stock resonator being replaced by an h pipe, this system will flow better than stock and get at least a little bump in power and torque? Anyone who has the Stainless Works catback or knows someone who does, I would appreciate your input on this. Thanks.

if your planning on staying n/a you'll be fine with the smaller cores.

if your planning on power adder at some point, i would opt for the LMF's, thats what we currently have in the car

the h pipe will give a deeper tone, while the x will give a little more rasp

having a killer sale right now

If you're close by come stop by the shop, we're in NC. We have a few customer's running the SW LMF and you could also listen to Corsa and Roush (I think we have others). Always best to listen in person:) Give us a shout!

I'm biased because I bought the 3 inch cat backs and have them on my GT but I still haven't heard an exhaust on another 2015 that I like more than my SW's. To me they are best sounding "retro" exhaust on the market. I would say that only Corsa Extremes and MRT's cat backs are in the same ballpark. I do know there is a TON of love for the Corsa's on these boards, but I'll take my SW's any day of the week. Just my 2 opinionated cents lol :)

Thanks for the replies guys. MJS, how is the performance? Do you sense any more or less torque, throttle response etc. compared to stock or would you say things are about the same, just better sounding?

Thanks for the invite. I checked and you guys are about 4 hours from me. So, a little bit too much of a drive but I sure wish you were closer because I would come see you and give a listen in a minute. You guys sound clips on youtube were some that I checked out and liked.

A cat back is for sound primarily. But based on that. You went notice a difference in how the car drives

Exactly what Beef said....it's so minimal that you might only see the actual difference on a dyno going from 320 to 319 or something along those lines. It's all about the sound....and the stupid grin it puts on your face when it cold start or you WOT onto an on ramp. This system make some ridiculously good sound.

I made up my mind & am ordering the H pipe version, sounds like a solid deal at under $1k.

The SW catback with H-pipe sounds awesome with the factory headers and cats. If you do longtubes or cat deletes it is hella loud! I loved mine until my cat delete pipes, then it was too loud for me. It was perfect with the factory cats still on though! I now have an MBRP street catback, not as good tone but I am not grabbing too much unwanted attention anymore.

Well, I think after doing some more research (including that older 69 page SW thread on here) about the SW system, I am going to pass. Some are claiming power loss with this system, others that it gains nothing over stock, or perhaps 1-2 hp. Just some uncertainty about it that I am not comfortable with. So, its back to the drawing board. Got to do some more shopping and find another system that I like the sound of. I may end up just looking at an axle back system of some type.

No cat backs are good for power no matter what they say. If you like the sound. Go for it. We ran 8.7s through the system on our 2011 and are currently at 9.31@148 with our 2015. We have dyno tested the system but more importantly, we run it at the track. Through full exhaust we have the highest mph off any 15 out there and it's through the sw system. Don't be scared. Lol

Catalytic converters are the biggest restriction in an exhaust Even "high flow" cats are more restrictive than mufflers. If you never plan to remove your cats them then don't worry about a muffler restricting your performance.

This is exactly true right here. Just choose the system that you think sounds best and run with it. In this case, it sounds like you are set on the SW cat-back which does have a very throaty sound AND it flows more than enough for a stock Mustang or even a car with a power adder. Since you are still running the stock cats, you most definitely do not have to worry about losing any power as THAT is your restriction.

You're just in time as well as we are having a great sale on the Stainless Works line of cat-backs and axle backs. The sale pricing is listed on the site which is 20% off the normal pricing. No coupon codes needed AND we ship them for free.
