Hey guys. I used the search button but couldn't come up with anything :/

What octane do you use on your mustang gt for dd?
The guy at dealer told me I could run the 87. any thoughts on this? I am concerned of damaging the engine over time if I end up using 87 like dealer advised. I do understand with premium gas the car will do better performance wise.
Any thoughts?

Prepare for some incoming flak, there are many threads on this. Bottom line, 87 is perfectly fine. Totally up to you.

My dealer also said 87 was fine. You won't harm the engine by running higher octane fuel, just your wallet.

we've covered this extensively, yes. it's in the manual. 87 but run what you want. I will say I've been running 93 last two fill ups now and I don't know if there is really a difference but accelerating feels a little smoother but it hasn't improved mpg at all thanks to my recently installed corsa xtreme lol.

Get whatever your wallet can handle. The manual says the minimum is 87. I run 93 because of the high compression ratio the coyote motors have.

You lose something like 5 hp on 87 octane. Not really a whole lot to worry about.

I mean if you wanna run 87 you can. But I put 91 or higher in my high compression performance v8.

cali only goes up to 91...I always go 91, I'm sure 87 is perfectly fine, but I sleep better knowing I have premium. Couple dollar more makes no difference to me.

I treat the s550 like it is something special by running 93 with a 93 tune.
Sure, 87 is fine but I just don't get it.

You are perfectly fine running 87 octane in the coyotes. 1) These motors have very efficient combustion chambers, that's one reason why you can run 87 with 11:1 compression in this motor. 2) The knock sensors add or remove timing depending on fuel quality.

There will be a slight power difference at WOT between 87 and premium, but probably not enough to actually feel. In the end, you are fine with 87 in your car.

I've gotten used to putting 93 in my girls car (supercharged) so I just put the same in mine out of habit :(

are you really going to save much money not going with 93? who cares, just use 93.
if you add it up over a years time, then its a decent amount of difference. that difference could be mods or food lol

If you believe all the "good for your engine" hoopla in reference to detergents and cleaners in premium gas, it may be worth it. LOL That said, I use 93..:p
