Pretty sure the Ford/Roush one requires grinding the block. Or something to that extent (ergo. Irreversible). The other ones are "bolt on". Still gonna take you the day. Or the weekend
Yes...I think there are about three spots on the timing casing were you have to allow for extra belt tensioners and from memory I think there may be a spot in the valley of the block.
Ian.

Yeah, stuff that man lol...

In the highly unlikely event I do supercharge (0.01% chance), I'd probably go with Vortech/Paxton. Absolutely love those kits.

Just gonna ride this black horse N/A to carry me over to the inevitable global launch of the Corvette (C8).

The Coyote 5.0L Mustang motor comes with cast pistons (11.0:1 compression ratio) and sintered forged conrods as standard. Now if you intended to supercharge the motor (and to hell with the warranty) you may want to think of upgrading the bottom end for absolute reliability for higher horsepower.
There is a fair bit to it, but two of the major items would be Manley (for want of a manufacturer) H-beam forged conrods and Manley forged 9.0:1 pistons & rings. The lower compression ration pistons are for reliability as you can always increase the boost for more power. The Manley Coyote pistons come with an offset wrist pin which overcomes piston rattle on a cold start-up.
With these items you virtually have a bullet proof bottom end. That's after internally and externally balancing the motor, etc, etc. This is probably only necessary if you are going for 650 plus horsepower. Fortunately the 11.0:1 standard compression is not too bad for lower horsepower. Interestingly the non-Mustang Coyote motor is only 10.5:1 compr. ratio. The thing that you have got to avoid is detonation or pre-ignition.
I don't know what started me in this train of thought, but there you go...lol.
Ian.

Not a sceaming Vortech/Paxton. You just want to be able to return it to standard easily.
You should get yourself a real mans supercharger ie a positive displacement supercharger....lol.

Do you really think the Corvette is coming out in rhd?
Ian.

Haha wtf is a real man's supercharger? Lmao

Nah, I like the vortech kits. Suits my driving style/needs. Sufficient power and reliable.

Yes, fairly sure they will be making the C8 series a global model.

I think the success [or otherwise] of the Mustang will largely determine what other USA muscle/sports models will be sold here.

I'm not convinced it's a very strong business case because of our market size compared to the USA's, and the general sales trends. Then again when HSV shut up shop, the sales have to go somewhere...

Ssetting up a car for RHD from the start of the design brief ensures that a few can be made for us to enjoy.

Not sure about the C8, but I read somewhere the 6G Camaro isn't set up for RHD. So if I were to take a guess at this stage, I'd say the Vette will stay USDM only.

Quite a decent chance the C8 is the global V8 they are referring to. The proposed date is right on track for when the C8 should be coming to market to replace the C7.

If not, happy to bring one in privately anyway :D

EDIT:

Further sources that show Chevrolet is trying to secure Aussie trademarks for the golden cross (logo), and the Corvette emblem/logo.

Yep, seen all of those but I remain a sceptic for the time being because nothing in those articles confirms it 100%. Lots of maybes and 'could' and 'may'.

Still, it's the way the world is going so I do hope we get to see more American metal over here in RHD. I just think the 6G Camaro made more sense for Holden and could have come over sooner.

If/when the Vette is sold here it's not going to be a volume seller. Or cheap!

Nah, I don't think anyone is expecting it to be sold on the same volume as Camaro's and Mustangs. Corvette's aren't the same class of car. If anything, we'd be looking at $140~ AUD +- for a factory spec RHD.

The way the block is on the C7, even an aftermarket conversion is not that complicating. If the way they're built is like the Viper, then conversions would be out of the question. No room in that unless it's direct from the factory. Which even Dodge don't want to go into. Corvettes are a totally different thing altogether.

Highly doubt GM would go through the trouble of securing trademarks for their logo's etc with no intention of selling in Aus.

For now, we can always enjoy the mustangs

I'm 73 so my driving life is limited. If I get to see another rhd Yankee car in my lifetime it will be a miracle, so I am going to enjoy my Mustang while I can. I would love to work it over like I did to my FPV BA GT-P Falcon, but I no longer have my factory, equipment or body to be able to do it, plus my wife would divorce me if I could....lol.

I suppose the answer to all of this is to buy an ECU to go with all of your mods and then if you have a problem, just put the original factory ECU back in place. Can you see any holes in this idea? Back in the days when I was building my BA, flashing the ECU and keeping a copy of the original factory tune was the normal thing to do.
Ian.
I hate being negative, but unfortunately it isn't that simple these days - unless you have a Ford IDS available, as the other modules need to be coded into the ECU and vice versa. :frusty:
