I just installed my Roush CAI. took the mustang out for a drive and the inlet air temp during idle reached 140 degrees! and its 55 F outside! while driving the temperature ranges from 70F to 105F degrees! Is this normal? Its my first time installing a CAI. I checked everything and the CAI is installed correctly!

How about you post something useful instead of saying the car is ruined!!

Are you sure you plugged in all the sensors, that is the only reason I can think of why it would be reading so high if it was much cooler outside. A higher temperature at idle is normal but it should be going down close to ambient when driving.

during idle is when its the highest. once i give it full throttle from stop the temperature begins to drop from 140 to 100 in less than 4 seconds and then it ranges from 68f to 100f. but if i give it gas the temp does drop its still higher than ambient

Welcome to the world of open CAI's. You can seal it to the hood better with some grey pipe insulation. It will mold to the liner and help keep some of the hot air out.

It's always going to be higher than ambient. As long as it's dropping while driving I don't know that you should be concerned. There's no real way to lower idle IAT's drastically.

Bigger concern would be your CATs. They won't be lower than your IAT's, depending on your intercooler, they'll be high with those temps.

Yes it will rise at idle and it can get rather high depending on how long your at idle. I believe the temperature will always be slightly higher then ambient when driving that's just how it is.
