2016 Shelby GT350 Allocations

the 350 is not currently scheduled to be available outside the US.

..and my understanding from what I've read is that the GT350 doesn't meet European pedestrian collision standards.

I ordered a 2016 GT350 with the Tech Package, Magnetic with Blue Stripes. Looking forward to getting her. My dealer received a build date of 21 September 2015. My dealer estimates a delivery date of late Nov early Dec 2015. This is his only allocation for 2016. Same guy got me my 2013 GT500.

NO Also even when you have a vin and scheduled date you can usually change color up to a couple weeks before order is "Locked in". System will tell you that if you try to make changes.

Not sure what you mean by "locked-in" as according to my dealer my order has been locked-in and confirmed as such by Ford rep since 6/12 and still no VIN or build date.

Locked in refers to the order already with vin and ready to be produced at the factory. It's a matter of use of the term and context. You are free to make changes to your order at this time.

I've looked for my answer and can't find it. If my dealer has an R model allocation do we still get to order the 350R with the options we want? I'm doing this late next summer.

Unless the dealer insists on ordering to their specs you should be able to. You probably would want to tie this one down with them so that dosen't happen.

Does the allocation for an R apply only to a single model year or does it cover successive years. Say a dealer gets 2 non-Rs MY16 and 2 non-Rs MY17. Can they pick up an R as the 4th GT350 in MY17, 3 non-Rs and 1 R in that fashion?

:gossip: You know that you're just going to get speculative responses, The best thing to do is ask a dealer that has a GT350 allocation and even they might not know the answer. One thing for sure though is that by this time next year you will have a definite answer.

I think he said elsewhere in another thread that it was because the front end slopes lower, but I don't think that's correct. If the slope is lower, the car is actually safer because people are more likely to roll over the car in the event of contact than under the higher and more blunt it is.

I just believe it's because they won't make enough of these to go around outside of North America and they're not ready to commit a high performance Mustang outside of that yet considering the Mustang is still in its first year of sales. It's new times. Why rush?

Somewhere on this forum. I think in the EU, there's a mandated 1" gap (maybe I have the number wrong, but it's something on that order) between the underside of the hood and hard parts underneath, so that when the car collides with a pedestrian the pedestrian won't be injured as severely. The 2015 GT as a world car was designed to meet the spec, but the GT350 has a hood that fits more tightly to the engine, etc.

There's a thread on this forum somewhere - someone posted a video of a Mercedes or some other European car that has a hood that moves away from the engine during a collision in order to accommodate the regulation.
