Recently in the same boat, but laid of 3x in the last year. We just had a baby and I guess my S550 plans are a pipe dream.

At least I have until Sept 30th as my last day. Ooh - I will still get to read a few more of the CEO's emails about how excited he is about acquiring another company for just $2B.

It was a good job, easy work, good pay, nice place to work at, and nice people to work with. I survived fiscal-year-end cutbacks last September when the team was cut in half. One year later, that half-team is being cut in half again.

I even became friends with my boss. We would watch Indy and F1 races at his house. He wanted to keep me and a another colleague/friend but higher management said No.

We were all temporary contractor engineers. I've seen this company call some of us back after a short-term layoff before. Who would want to wait by the phone for the off-chance that happens?

Oh well. My story is not as sad as the Oklahoma forum member that lost his job after saving for a GT350 for ten years.

Wow, 3 times in a year!:( May I ask what you do for a living?

Congrats on your new addition. :) Those types of life-changing events are much more important than this car.

Good luck to you OP. Something will come along soon enough. :)

Better to be laid off now than right after you sign the paperwork. Gotta look on the bright side; I'm sure things will turn your way sooner rather than later.

I'm sorry to hear. This economy has been absolute hell on most people I know. I'm making a lot less than I did in '14. I have the money saved up for the Mustang but I'm still financing it just in case I need some money from that for something in the mean time. It's tough out there.

I really hope for some kind of resurgence of the full-time job versus all of this outsourcing, temp, contract and part-time BS.

Keep your chin up, bud. Another job will come along. Time to use those connections you've made.

Ask your boss that you've become friends with to see if he can find you another place to work.

Is it not PC for me to mention that two of the members that were kept (converting from temporary to full-time) are here on work Visa's?
I mean, there are not enough jobs everywhere in the world, but that stings a little, too.

(I will delete this post if it is pointed out to me that it is not PC. I don't mean to offend this nice community.)
