Volume from catted headers

Just pulled the trigger on a set of catted Stainless Works headers after weeks of debate.

I'm just wondering if it will make the car much louder, compared to catless headers.

I'll be combining the headers with my Ford Racing SPORT catback.

Can anyone chime in if my car will be significantly louder? If you're wondering, louder is good!

Yeah it will be definitely be louder but nothing crazy, should sound awesome with your catback.

I'm running catted Kooks with Borla Type-S catback. To me, at WOT and cold start-up, its significantly louder.

At WOT and cold start-ups before the headers, the sound was barely perceivable with the windows up, but now with the the headers its very noticeable. Windows down, its pretty loud.

But, once the car is warmed up and if you're not at WOT, its a nice muscle car rumble. If you shift before 3000 rpm and are not flooring it, its not too loud - helpful if you don't want to piss off the neighbors, scare little children or attract the law.

With that being said, I love the sound. Don't worry - you're new set-up will be plenty loud for you.

Sorry, no video. Can't really do a video in our neighborhood as the older folk might hunt me down lol.

As far as loudness, I don't think their will be much difference between the two. The only difference would be the tone/pitch/sound, but I'd bet money they would be the same as far as dB's are concerned.

I say pick which one sounds better to you, but as far as loudness, I think ARH, Stainless, Kooks, JBA (all catted) + your catback will all be equally loud.

I think he's trying to decide between Kooks catted LTH's and Stainless Works catted LTH's as far as a loudness difference between the two coupled with his Borla Type-S catback.

He wants to know if they're is a loudness (dB) difference between the two catted set-ups...my opinion was that any catted LTHs coupled with his catback would all be equally as loud...please chime in if I'm in the wrong or off base.

Other opinions are welcome...!

I'm in the same boat. Have the borla s-type cat back and trying to decide between kooks and stainless power, both catted. Don't want to wake the neighborhood but I am looking for more of a muscle car sound

Yeah, more curious how the s-type sounds with catted lths. And if there is a difference in fitment, quality, and performance between kooks and SW. I agree all 1 7/8" primary headers will probably sound about the same.

If it's not drastically louder I'll just not mention it to the wife and get then under the radar hahaha

Not quite what you are asking, but the setup in my sig is much louder than stock. Sounds good, but it is loud. Can be manageable though if you keep things under 3,000rpm. Also, after warms up, same level of loudness, but the sound mellows out a bit - if that makes sense.

I suspect any header and aftermarket catback setup is going to be pretty loud.

For those that have this setup, what size headers did you go with?

I always say it makes what to have about 20% louder. Does not change the tone much though.
