Does anyone know if you can swap the lower section of the center console out for the premium package toggle set-up? Is the ecu is already programmed for the different driving modes that the premium offers? thanks in advance.

I was curious about this as well. I knew when I bought my base GT with PP that I had a "steering" mode but was unaware that the premium cars had something that appeared to be more inclusive in their sport mode. Would love to know if I'm missing out or if the PP cars come with everything else in "sport" mode with only the steering having user adjustments.

That isn't what I'm looking for, those toggles are nice but they are essentially just a replacement for the buttons... I'm wanting to know if the premium models control module is plug and play for the base model. It has an additional button for driving modes that the base doesn't have. I realize you can double tap the traction button for advance track setting but there's no way to turn on track mode, wet/snow, or sport+ modes. I've seen the track mode "race helmet" and the "sport+" light up on my dash during initial startup but it goes off right after... So I'm not sure if the tuning is already there and it just needs the interface.

interested in this as well. I imagine its in the ECU somewhere. just needs to be unlocked. give it a year and people will be able to unlock hidden features like driving modes and the ability to change the color of the dash display that us lowly base owners cannot do.

Unlocking the driving modes would be one thing, but does the base model even have the color changing lights behind the gauge cluster?

I believe they all do. I was looking for the difference in part numbers but I could not find anything. its an easy way to cut down cost too.
this discussion is going on in another thread though.

I am interested in having the sport+ and track modes. ive never felt the difference.
what does it even do?
change the traction control, remap throttle?

I could see the ECU or PCM being similar if not identical, but it would seem pointless to have lighting features that couldn't be accessed without a hack or mod... Especially if they aren't going to charge additional money for it like they do on premium models...

From what I've read the snow/wet mode dials back throttle and steering input to make the vehicle more docile, while the sport + and track sharpens up the throttle and response from the engine and trans (autos only) I've heard that cat backs also sound a little more aggressive in track mode but I haven't seen it in person or heard any vids to verify...

their are things locked in every car. features people didn't want or deem necessary. you see it a lot on the BMW forums. i had a guy code the digital speed limit, turn off amber DRL, and make it so when i double clicked lock, all windows and sunroof would roll up. when i clicked double unlock, the opposite would happen. It just takes time and someone who knows what they are doing to take a stab at it and see what is possible.

That's true, and all for anything extra that's hidden in our cars... I'm debating on just buying the module and seeing if I can get any of the driving modes to work, it's just my curiosity also has me wondering about any possible damage that could be caused if it takes more than just the interface from the module to work correctly...

I have done the swap and i can confirm that you do NOT get the driving modes. I am working on unlocking them, but its not just plug and play.

Thanks for the heads up, as far as fit and finish are the connectors themselves plug and play? I'd rather not cut and splice the harness or modify the dash if I don't have to... From just looking at pics they seem to be the same overall size?

Did you swap the entire center stack out? I'm just curious about driving modes, I don't need the upgraded AC or nav...
